I figured it out with the help of a friend... I needed a sheet of cardstock between the acetate and the cutting plate. I was getting good enough pressure, but it was leaving too much still...

I need to cut acetate with a nestability and my big shot.... cannot seem to get a sandwich that CUTS through it... only getting a very severe score.
any help out there??
