I think I've also read somewhere on here that you can mix DD with clear embossing powder and then use your versamark pen and the embossing powder holds it on. I don't have DD but I have a craft store...

Ok, I got the resource where I had seen this technique. It is in January 2006 Stampin' Success on page 22, just inside the back cover. Thought I'd just pass that on.
