When I used to do brads this way I would heat the brad up first and then dip into the pile of embossing powder and let it cool. My brads are still good after almost 8...

They must have changed the formula then. I have all the colors (from about 4 years ago) and all except the metallic colors are just plain colors. No shimmer at all. Just plain ol' opaque paint colors.

Just so you know....all the colors son't have a metallic look to them. Kind of sounds like you think that they might.

The all-purpose inks are great for using on fabrics as well.

Are you sure that you are hitting every spot with the heat gun for long enough?

I know sometimes when I get in a hurry I will miss a spot and will occasionally get a smear.

Just a thought.

I have a card I used Encore ink ago from 2 years ago and it still smears even after heat setting.
I love my Brilliance pads.
