When I made these for teacher gifts a few years ago, I put CE on the stamped image. I had a very simple image (Crayon Kids?), so I just put CE directly on the image - no where else. Seemed to work...

I don't see why you couldn't. The only problem I can see is that it may be too thin. If so, just affix it to plain cardstock first (or after).
