For alphabets you can put them on glossy cardstock and slip them into page protectors that you get for full sheets of paper at staples and then in a notebook.

I unmounted the stamps that I thought that I would keep for a while, if you keep the blocks they can be remounted on the wood block, that would meant storing the blocks in your attic or basement...
