I think it depends on what you want to use it for and how much space you have. The cuttlebug is smaller and it is pretty contained ( i own one)... but my friend owns a big shot and she can use more...

You can cut your sponge in smaller pieces to accommodate more colors.... No need to wash.
I would play around to get the desired effect. How are you getting the ink...

My vote go for photoshop elements. It is inexpensive....it can do everything that you would like to do now... and then if you want you can switch to the more expensive software...

I've used the petal inks...heat seat in the oven for 20-30 min...and voila! you're done. I don't seal them. I've been using one at work for over a year and it still looks great.

I think that's fine. Last year, I sent very simple cards. No layers. It was basically the natural cardstock, ink, and some *glitter*. I got good feedback from the stampers....
