The heat embossing is actually drying out the paper at that one spot so that's what causes it to wrinkle/warp. I agree with the previous suggestion to keep the heat gun moving and not get too close...

The only tip I can offer is not to press too hard when setting the eyelet. I'm always amazed at how little pressure I need to give it. I basically just close the CAD, not "pressing" it at all once...
