Scrappin' Challenge 2020 Can you believe this is our 12th year of Scrappin' Goal Challenge?!
We sure completed an AWESOME number of pages together in 2009 through 2019 and I'm looking forward to MORE Scrap pages together in 2020! Let's keep scrappin'. It was SO fun to chat about and see everyone's pages, goals and ideas for completing LOTS of scrapbook pages in 2020! Many had a common theme - get more pages done, use what's in our stash, meet new scrapping friends, plan time/crops... What fun we'll have sharing ideas, cheering success, keeping the motivation and making new friends. Our scrap goal isn't all about getting pages done, it's also about enjoying the process!
Please feel free to join at any time!
Here's the CHALLENGE. Each person can share their page goals, pages and ideas. for those of use who like Annual Goals, we will have a better shot at meeting our yearly goal if we break it down by month. *In this thread, we track our monthly goals. We find it helps us keep getting pages done which is good for all of us. You choose your own scrapbook page goal and monthly spend goal. You may select 2, 3, 5, 50 pages....you choose. The idea is to be flexible so if you know you're going to be really busy, you can reduce the number one month or if you're going to a couple crops or scrap weekends, up the number. This also works for the budget. Each month, you can change your goals depending on your calendar!
The whole goal of the challenge is to get lots of pages done all the while enjoying sharing with Virtual Friends. Are you UP for the CHALLENGE? Come and Play in the 2020 Scrapbook Challenge!
Here's to Meeting our Scrapping Goals & Meeting New Friends! We'd love to "oohh" and "aahh" over your pages so please post with key word "sbc20oct"

Popping in to put down my October scrapbooking goal. Since hope springs eternal, I will try to get 10 layouts completed this month. Haven't managed to make that for the last two months, but if I can do 10 each for the next three months, I will make my yearly goal! My YTD is 71 layouts.
I just uploaded a few of my latest pages, since I've been working on calendars. I'm not sharing all of them, some are literally just a DP and a ribbon, and tons of photos, haha. Four of these were done in September but one is for October!
I’m gonna make a goal of 5 for this month and be thrilled if I get any done!
My oldest gets married on Halloween and we are having the rehearsal dinner at my house instead of a restaurant due to the virus and its issues. So we have to finish our renovations amongst the other pre-wedding hoopla. Such a fun time, but probably not conducive to a lot of scrapping. I’ve been trying something new and making some Halloween home decor in more of the TIm Holtz style for my creative outlet.
Hope everyone has a safe and creative fun kind of month!
Good luck with everything Amy. Take lots of photos for future scrapbooks.
I’ve also not been scrapping..due to health issues....and other stuff. I hope to get back into it one day.
Waving and sending hugs

I guess I was so busy at my crop on the first of the month I never checked in. I have18 pages done this month already with another crop on Friday Saturday and Sunday so I hope to get at least 7 to 10 more done. I don’t know how that plan will work out as those three days will be the last days to crop in our brick and mortar cropping store, it will close Sunday evening after the crop. Sherri is closing down for good. i figure we will be reminiscing and crying to get much done.
I hope our scrap store about ten miles out of town can stay open. I know it has been difficult with Covid regulations. They have really upped their game online, but if they closed, people would miss the classes and crops, and we really miss the twice a year craft garage sales, already!
A great number of pages Sharon for your goal. I need you and
Lela to tell me how you get so many pages done!i am so slow on doing them and on getting ideas! LOL
I was just talking to my hubby yesterday about how the lack of real world stimulation is really making it harder for me to get creative when I scrapbook. No trips to museums and very few to nature spots or the beach. There's a limit to how much I can be inspired virtually, KWIM? It seems like the creative side of my brain is in hibernation, waiting for spring (i.e. reopening of all those places). Anyone else having this difficultly?
I can’t blame it on Covid at my end as I am creating more than ever but they are all cards.
Now that I’m helping out on WTUI I seem to find weeks come around so quickly, plus I’ve been creating other stuff. I have no excuse but myself when it comes to scrapping. I made a list on how I could do scrapping and cards and it looked manageable but have I done it yet, nope lol.
I did have a week-10 days where I didn’t create a thing as I wasn’t feeling great but now I’m in my play room daily. Sometimes only for an hour or two and I come out and find I haven’t done much. I’m trying a lot of new techniques. One card took me a long time to make but I had fun.
I’ve also promised to make a junk journal for a friend and haven’t started that yet. I did get out my papers though so that’s a start.
Cheryl, we are all different and I have heard from other friends how Covid isn’t motivating them to do much. We were different and enjoyed the lockdown period and caught up on things plus I was exhausted from gallivanting around trying to catch up with people. Now we are pretty much back to pre-Covid and I’m still not going out much and I like it.
Today I have a sample to make for WTUI...and more. It’s a busy week for me as I’m hosting a challenge on the MMJ thread too this week. Lots happening..so on that note I will say bye and I will get back into it once I organise myself properly.
Happy scrapping. Keep safe and well everyone. Hugs

Cheryl, just a thought...have you taken photos of your family whilst in lockdown and maybe create a Covid album. I started to do that. There’s lots of free digis online too to help with embellishments. It could just be a page about how you and your family are coping during this awful time. Hopefully you find your mojo soon.
I’m hoping the alpha scrapping challenges continue as once I start again I can find photos for just about every letter.

Jayne, I am keeping a 2020 journal of sorts, but I am so not ready to scrapbook this year! My problem isn't lack of story or photos, it's just hard to get creative. I am forcing myself to scrapbook this morning, so hopefully I will get past this slump and the mojo will flow again, despite not having real world creative inspiration.
I have an alpha challenge to do on a beach theme and I don’t know who I would send a beach card to lol so I’m going to see if I have some beach photos and do a scrapbook page instead.
I hear you on mojo....mine comes and goes but I need my craft right now. Sending you some mojo....love to see your LOs.
I also tend to get more motivated when there’s a lot of us creating and we seem to have lost some ladies scrapping, including myself, the past couple of months. This year has certainly been challenging. Hugs everyone

Cheryl, I agree. I have no creativity and I just stare at my supplies and photos and just BLAH. The constant "rule changing" and still all the social distancing is totally draining. And I'm not even all that social!!! I wish people would just do the things and see if it goes away... I just found out two high schools between my parents house and mine have closed for the next two weeks. And our school decreased cases. (yeay!) It's just exhausting. And it's been going on for so long. So then I just don't want to do much of anything besides what has to be done- like laundry, dishes and dinner.... sigh. I do try... I have a lot of pretty colors and papers to play with and I do enjoy creating... Some days are better than others.

I spoke with my sister in the UK earlier and they are about to go back into lockdown. She is also feeling depressed and says since March they’ve hardly been anywhere and are doing the right thing but when she went into a store the owners didn’t have masks on or use shields on the counter. She says there’s no hope when people are defying rules.
My aunt hasn’t left her home since February. It makes me feel sad as we are ok here and back to pre Covid times although social distancing rules apply in cafes and restaurants. Our State has been an island within our country since March. Everyone has to quarantine that come back in and only residents allowed. We are basically stuck in our State but we don’t mind that if it keeps us all safe. Fortunately we have a big State. I think the best thing that happened here was that international travel was immediately stopped. I said to my sister if they could only do the same in the UK but unfortunately the population is so large and people just won’t do the right thing. It’s a total mess. I so wish this horrible virus would just take a hike. Keep safe and well.

Jayne, sounds like the UK is similar to here. We seem to be going back to a lot of the restrictions we had in the spring, just as we enter the holiday season which is ALLLL about family time. sigh. I don't want it, and I definitely don't want to give it to someone, and I wish more people agreed with their actions too. :p Because we're clearly not doing good enough.

Happy Sunday everyone...who is scrapping this week? I finally caught up on my sample cards..yay which means I can now start to get back to scrapping and other things.
I think Sharon is knee deep in junk journals LOL.
Amy, has the wedding happened yet?
Lela, are you still working from home?
Miss all the chat on here.
Keep safe and well everyone.

I am going to look at the scrap challenges today after church. I cleaned my room and put the junk journal stuff aside for awhile. Three JJs done and two others ready to put together. They are fun and use up a lot of stash of items, but time consuming! And what do you do with them after they are done? LOL
Finished two pages this week, and just have to get them posted in the gallery. One of them used the Technique Challenge! I just popped over here to say hi before I go back to making dinner. Hubby and kids are watching baseball on tv, so I can probably post my layouts after dinner. Both of my layout used lots of pink (unusual for me), so I am issuing an unofficial challenge to everyone: USE PINK! Who is with me?
If I ever get back to scrapping I’ll look to see what I can do in pink. Your LOs are great. Happy day

Wow, just noticed there are only six layouts in the gallery for SBC20Oct, and four of them are mine! I don't remember this ever happening in all my time on SCS, that we would be this far into the month and have so few layouts posted. Makes me kinda sad.
Cheryl I’ve noticed that fewer people are chatting on this thread and not creating. I think with Covid some people who usually create aren’t. It is sad.
My excuse has been that I’ve had cards to make as samples, and also having been unwell hasn’t helped as I’ve only had so many hours I’ve felt like creating. I am trying to keep up with everything and not start a new project so I don’t get side tracked. I have a journal to make for a friend but if I start that I will never get back to scrapping. I think some ladies are creating, such as Sharon Sewflake but maybe not posting. The site issues may not have helped but I believe they are all fixed now.
I love the theme Lela gave us for the challenge and have heaps of ideas for it. So on that note I’m getting off this site...that is another problem for me...trying to keep up with chat and on a few threads. By the time I’ve done emails, pms, chat and watched technique videos I’ve wasted hours and exhausted lol.....eek. I’m bad. Sorry to whinge and sound like a wet nelly.
So don’t give up on me and I’m sure others too will return in time.
Hugs. Keep safe and well

Now I have a list for the alphabet VSBN! ;) I had several ideas for C and started with this page of our vacation this summer. I will probably revisit C next time I have some scrappy time. Cottonwood Canyon

2024 Scrapping Goals: March 8/12; Feb: 6/15; 2024: 35/125
I decided to pop in and explain why I'm not posting. It is simply that I not setting goals these last couple months so. . . I don't feel like I am participating with this goal setting challenge but I do come in and read what you have been doing.
My motivation over the last couple of months or so has been to only do what is required of me and on the rare moments that I must go make something with paper do I find myself creating a page.
Nothing seems to inspire me lately. I have never been a traveler except to visit my kids or the zoo. Rarely have I gone anywhere for a night away from home so I have nothing to scrap for the VSBN alpha challenges. Maybe when it gets further down the line - like Japan, Tokyo, Yokohama, or Zushi! I don't take vacations. I'm retired. There is nothing to take a vacation from. All I want to do is see my kids! And I do take plenty of photos then! My DGD sends me pics on the phone all the time and I love them and scrap them.
Does any of this make sense? It just didn't fit for me to pretend to have a goal when I don't. Too often I just don't feel like crafting. I am now trying to mix it up with sewing to see if that will help get me back in the mood. It's hard to shake the feeling of why am I bothering with any of this?
I do enjoy reading your comments here and I care about each of you very much!

I don’t set goals either for craft although now I’ve joined the Dirty Pile I do have my 6 cards for that now each month. I’m also on the alpha thread and try to make a card each week for that but I don’t put pressure on myself anymore. I do what I can.
I felt so guilty at not scrapping....and even now I do as I have so many stories I want to tell, but I wonder what I will do with all the albums. The kids have already told us they don’t want them. At the end of the day I’m creating for me unless I have a card to send. Having been unwell for weeks my craft is what keeps me going right now. I do think that lockdowns and this virus is affecting people differently and a few people are losing their mojo.
I love the a-z challenge because I can think up so many events, trips and places we’ve been to so for me it works. I could also scrap family and do want to do some albums for the poppets but our DIL creates online books for them and I wonder whether they would appreciate mine. All the younger ones seem to do things online these days.
Joyce Ann, perhaps you can still scrap photos of your family and grandchildren using the alphabet but with a colour or something in the scene beginning with that letter, or perhaps a place you were at when you or your GD took the photo. I would try and not get bogged down with the specific a-z and travel. Interpret it as you wish and so you create. That’s the most important thing and I would imagine Lela and others would say the same.
Your pages are so inspirational and it makes me sad to read that you don’t have the motivation. I so hope that it comes back. I wouldn’t worry about the goal. I haven’t set a goal on this thread for a while as I knew I would not achieve it, and if I don’t have the motivation then I don’t set one. Perhaps there’s some previous challenges that inspire you to scrap?
If I get one page done this month I will be happy. I miss scrapping. I always have but I got into cards and when I create with people online, they all make cards. Even my monthly craft group now only makes cards. I used to scrap with one friend and she’s switched to cards. I had thought with lockdown everywhere there would be more scrappers.
Hang in there dear friend. Enjoy your sewing and you will find your mojo again. Maybe we can incorporate journals into this thread. Sharon is making some amazing junk journals. That’s something else I’d like to do.
If it helps, I did make a planner/schedule for my week and so I could keep on top of projects. So far I’m on track.
On that note, I’m getting off the chat and seizing the day. Sorry to have rabbited on.
I do pop on to see how everyone is. You are all in my thoughts. Hugs everyone

Daizees....I love how you interpret the theme. Keep being happy and do what makes your heart sing...such a great attitude during an up/down year. Scrapping and other stuff will always be there.
Ps..what’s your name? It feels odd for me to say Daizees as I feel we’ve known you for along time.
Hugs again.

And, I so hear you Joyce Ann on the "somewhere besides the grocery store", haha. I have to buy a dress for my sister's upcoming wedding and my friend kept telling me "this is the style now, haven't you noticed?" I go to the grocery store! There is no style to notice! haha!

I went to the zoo today. It was a special event - Boo at the Zoo. The kiddies dress up and get to enjoy games and some candy treats. Adults do a good bit too, and get to take pictures at fun spots. My question for you all, would it be acceptable to make a page for the VSBN letter "B"? It's an event, not a destination.

No scrapbook police, Joyce Ann! Go for it! I think it qualifies anyway!
Jayne, and Joyce Ann , as Dirty Girls on the Dirty Dozen design team you are more than busy! Don’t apologize for not scrapping as much. I on the other hand have no excuse at all. I am just in Junk Journal mode right now, as Jayne says! LOL. I have a one track mind! And besides stuff all over in my room right now is for journals.
Hi ladies... just got caught up on the goings on. I’m one week away from my son’s wedding and my house renovation is finished or as good as it’s gonna get! Amen!
So I took this evening off from all chores and wedding stuff to scrap! Wow... it felt so good!!! Finished 5 pages but uploaded only 4.
One of them is for VSBN C category and I am calling it Covid Camp though it is really just random things we were doing while under stay at home orders. So as you can see... I also think the letter is just about inspiration. So Joyce Ann absolutely feel that a Trip to the BOO should count in your B category!!! Go for it!!
Joyce Ann, I’m with Sharon..no scrapbook police but I seem to recall the post did say...place, event, etc...it’s perfect what you would like to scrap for the letter B. Can’t wait to see what you create.
Sharon, would love to see more of your journals.
Amy, exciting time for you all. Whoohoo. Enjoy it all

Thanks to you dear friends I scrapped this page for the VSBN challenge. I also edited the 2 other pages I did this month to have the key word so they appear with the others even though I didn't make a goal this month.
