Good Morning All.....
It is Grandma's Birthday today and she wants to do another Birthday Party Challenge... This year she has been thinking a lot about her heritage and "the way it use to be".
SO her challenge to all of us is to use her favorite colors of Pine Green, True Blue and Soft Pink, (odd.... I know, but after I laid some combos out last night, they actually go real well together.) She would like us to include photos of family heritage or Family Get-Togethers.
In the past month, Grandma has been to her Daughter-in-law's funeral, An extended Family reunion on her side, Her immediate family get-together and this weekend she attended the wedding of her Granddaughter, (My cousin just lost her mom and is the last grandchild to get married). Anyway, Grandma has had lots of time to reflect and admire the progress of her heritage.
The challenge will be open for Two weeks, ending July 25th, 2009 and then she will judge them. She said that she would like to see two different categories this time, one for Digi and one for Paper. She is sending two sets of goody bags and my MOM said she has been shopping for prizes for over a month.... Grandma is so excited!
Anyone up for the challenge.....???????
Please use the keywords GBCJULY09 & SBC09JULY
We could also use this as this week's digi challenge if we wanted to... so if you complete it as a digi LO just upload to keywords: DGC035

Hey guys, I've read your posts back and forth about PSE, Photoshop, and Jessica Sprague free classes. I was wondering if you guys knew that for the past 3 years ( I think it has been one every year) Jessica Sprague has done a CK special issue called Computer Tricks for Scrapbookers. I have all three issues and they are great. You all know that I'm not a digi-scrapper but one thing I love to do is edit, alter, and enhance my photos. Every one of these issues has been fantastic and literally takes you step by step through the process and and she even shows you a snapshot of the computer screen as she walks you through it. Computer Tricks for Scrapbookers 3 came out this year and you might still be able to find it on the newsstand if interested. And, I'm pretty sure you could get it from creatingkeepsakes.com
Just thought I'd share...;)
I checked out the site and am going to order book 2 and 3 didn't see where I could order book 1. Thanks for the info Jenn.

Good afternoon all. Well I wish I could say I have some pages to upload but no I don't! I seem to have lost my mojo and or my desire to scrap. I did make a couple pages the other night with my sister but I am not pleased with them and have not even taken the time to upload them yet! I sure hope I get over this dry spell quick as I have a goal of 25for the month!!!

Here's a photo of my DGD that I created for today's Jessica Sprague lesson on textures. I desaturated my photo too.
Very cute. You can definitely see the texture behind the photo.
Took me a while and about 3 or 4 different tries until I came up with the photo I thought turned out pretty good. At least doing it this many times right away will probably keep the steps in my mind quicker! There was a grungy type frame around this too but you can't see it after the other frame was added.
Here's the before and after shots. I think this lesson was harder but would be great for doing those heritage type photos...even to make new ones look old. These were of our wonderful Bradford Pear tree before it split in 4 pieces and we had to replace it last year.

Terry,
what a beautiful tree, and I love what you did with the photo!

Sounds like a fun challenge. I have got to clean the craft room before I do anything crafty though. I can't see either desks

Very cool, Terry. What a gorgeous tree, and how sad that you lost it. We lost a beautiful tree last year too. It's heartbreaking, isn't it?
I forgot what a great idea it was to post a before and after photo, so I just added my *before* picture here so everyone could see the difference. I loved the before pic to begin with, but I like the after pic too, for different reasons.

Those colors do sound a bit odd! I'll have to get out my cardstock and have a look!

So far, it's been a fun course!
Yes it was sad but the life expectancy on these trees are only around 20 yrs and it was almost that old. We've replanted with a maple tree so within 2 or 3 yrs we'll have lots of shade again and this one should last for at least our lifetime.
Such a difference when the photos are edited, isn't there? That was a beautiful pic before too.
I just finished doing lesson 6. I don't know that I would use this one too often. I used an old photo to start with. Might print this one out for a l/o since it's the only one I have of my dad and mom. This is to do a picture "Through the viewfinder" like with an old camera. Pretty neat effect. I had tried to use this pic to do the texture lesson but it was already kind of textured on it's own since I had scanned it from an old photo and it really looked weird with the changes.

Interesting results, huh? -- I haven't checked today's lesson out yet. Maybe I'll go look now!

Really cool effect on the photo

OK. This is the first page I've done in a while and my first attempt at a digi page. Pretty plain and simple but I was very surprised when I tried to print it out on plain paper just to see if it would actually work...and IT DID! Woohoo! Now I've just got to figure out how to hook up my HP photoprinter (which involves trying to find the software and then seeing if Windows XP will accept it since it's an older printer) so I can print it out on a photo sheet.
Nice job on your first digi page, Terry -- and you printed it too! Awesome!
I know it's not a sb page, but here's my before and after attempt at today's Jessica Sprague challenge. It's very different from Terry's who used a red tint. It's a technique called TTV where one simulates a photo taken through the lens of an old-time camera. (Since most old cameras produced square pics, we had to crop our photo to a square.) Then we had to add some of the other techniques we've learned in the past week. I used the TTV filter, then added vintage touches, a textured overlay and a digital brush (leaves). I don't know how often I'll use some of these techniques, but they help to expose us to what all the different tools do in Photoshop Elements, since most of the tools have a multitude of uses.
The photo was taken in Jerome, AZ, an old copper mining ghost town that was gradually revived by former hippies and artists and now has quite a few permanent residents and business owners. It's quite a fun place to visit, if you're ever in Arizona! One of these days, I'm gonna get busy and scrap all my photos from my travels around Arizona--I have a ton of great photos!
Really cool Wendy.....Man I wish I would have taken that class, I forgot to register:rolleyes: But I'm going to order those books Jennipher told us about. I know so little about my PSL7:confused:

Terry and Wendy, great job on that Jessica Sprague class. I'm taking it to and love learning the new techniques, but like Wendy, I'm not sure how often I'll use the techniques. At least now I am understanding texture and filters and such
Left some love in the gallery (had to play catch up).
Hi all my online scrapping buddies! I have missed being on here for the past 6weeks. I am finally on the mend and almost at 100% with my back. June was total bust for me b/c of it. I am setting my goal for July at 15 pages. I've got a few page swaps that I need to get done this month. I had a crop at my house Friday night and got 3pages done. I'll try to take pics and post later.

I understand Patti! I think we've all gone through a "lost mojo" time period. Hopefully something will spark your mojo and you'll be off and scrappin' again soon!
