December Scrappin' and Chatter - sbc18dec
Scrappin' Challenge 2018 Can you believe this is our 10th year of Scrappin' Goal Challenge?! We sure completed an AWESOME number of pages together in 2009 through 2017 and I'm looking forward to MORE Scrap pages together in 2018! Let's keep scrappin'.
It was SO fun to chat about and see everyone's pages, goals and ideas for completing LOTS of scrapbook pages in 2018! Many had a common theme - get more pages done, use what's in our stash, meet new scrapping friends, plan time/crops...
What fun we'll have sharing ideas, cheering success, keeping the motivation and making new friends. Our scrap goal isn't all about getting pages done, it's also about enjoying the process! Please feel free to join at any time!
Here's the CHALLENGE. Each person can share their page goals, pages and ideas. for those of use who like Annual Goals, we will have a better shot at meeting our yearly goal if we break it down by month.
*In this thread, we track our monthly goals. We find it helps us keep getting pages done which is good for all of us.
You choose your own scrapbook page goal and monthly spend goal. You may select 2, 3, 5, 50 pages....you choose. The idea is to be flexible so if you know you're going to be really busy, you can reduce the number one month or if you're going to a couple crops or scrap weekends, up the number. This also works for the budget. Each month, you can change your goals depending on your calendar!
The whole goal of the challenge is to get lots of pages done all the while enjoying sharing with Virtual Friends.
Are you UP for the CHALLENGE? Come and Play in the 2018 Scrapbook Challenge! Here's to Meeting our Scrapping Goals & Meeting New Friends!
We'd love to "oohh" and "aahh" over your pages so please post with key word "sbc18dec"

Morning, here for December with 20 pages for the month. I am doing the December daily and going for the whole month rather than 25 days.
I ended up with 26 pages for November...6 of which I did during a crop I just returned from. That gives me a total of 191 YTD

I made my goal of ten for November and am at 62 YTD, so I think I'll go for 13 this month in order to bring my yearly total in at 75.

Lela, glad to see you got some scrapping done in November! Quick question on your Northwest Trek layout: for the photo storage page, did you scrap the horizontal photo as an 8" x 6 " element and then split it in half, or did you do it as two separate pieces? Wanted to try that technique but was wondering what's the easiest way to do it. Thanks.

Cheryl, that's an excellent question and I "experimented" ... I ended up cutting the DSP (8x6) into 2 pieces. I then mounted the photo on the background paper, cut that as "1" and then adhered it to the DSP to get it even. It worked out well that way since I don't have a really "heavy-duty" trimmer so too many layers wouldn't have worked out well for me

I am here and my Dec. Goal will be 10. (not anyway close to my yearly goal... :( )
For the sake of sounding like a broken record when I try and explain how busy I have been and in between being really busy and needing to rest, we cruise! We had a wonderful 2 week vacation cruising around the Hawaiian islands.
Also, for those that know me but are not friends with me on facebook, I was released a couple of weeks ago from my church calling as Relief Society President of our little branch here at the canyon, where I have been serving for a little over the past 3 1/2 years. I am now severing as the Compassionate Service Coordinator.
This now gives me more time to craft and play with my paper... LOL
With all that being said::::::
Here is a sneak peek at my Christmas cards for this year: Simply Christmas by Annie's Pantry - at Splitcoaststampers
And Here is my first layout for DEC. (scraplift) ----- Getting Trees by Annie's Pantry - at Splitcoaststampers

If you have ever wondered how I get so much scrapping done its the fact that I am and have become pretty much home bound. My DH has dementia with great trouble walking due to balance with slow messaging between head and legs. He is unable to walk more than a few feet at a time and hardly ever leaves the house. I spend a great deal of time at home and use scrapping as an outlet between caring for him and the house.

Sharon your December daily is beautiful! I love how you have made it your own.
I understand the ...everything...that it takes to be a caregiver. Your DH is blessed to have you.

Sharon, I agree with Lynn...your December daily is awesome. I can understand that scrapping is your outlet when housebound and I hope you and you husband find lots of joy and peace this Xmas. I am still waiting for my December daily to arrive from the States but I won't use it this year. I am still completing last year's album and have a little time this week so hope to get back to it then.
Lynn...well done you on doing pages and your cards.
Where's Joyce Ann? Haven't heard from her this month. Hope she's ok.
Have a wonderful Monday everyone.

Hello, hello
well, 1 day delay getting home but it was smooth sailing and on-time flights today. I was down seeing customers and also got to see family so it was a win/win.
I can't wait for the last 2 weeks of the holiday for "home time" ... I hope to hide in my Scrap Space. It will be "crazy chaos" here for a week though as all boys are coming home -- sons, girlfriends, dogs and a little one ...
Woohoo! Let the FUN begin

Wow
Sharon ... (aka Sewflake) your DD is AWESOME! Great pages! I love that scrapbooking is giving you a creative outlet as you care for your DH. That's a tough position!
I have 1 page done in my 2018 DD ... the Intro. I ordered the photos tonight for Day 2-11 ... I am going to get caught up this weekend. This is only the 2nd time I've done one. I needed something to "kickstart" my love for the holidays again. Once the boys had moved out, I just didn't seem to enjoy much about Dec until the 24th when they would get home.
I had a blast last year filling my first DD with all sorts of holiday fun I really did like and this year I've had just as much fun! So many stories to tell

Ok need advice on how to document this month. This will be the most interesting December ever.
Ok here goes. My friend has been in the hospital for about 7 weeks now. She will not be getting out for Christmas. Whilst my friend has been in the hospital i inherited her 88 year old hubby. Also round about Dec 21 i will time shift back to days. Though i do get Christmas day off cause his daughter will come and get him for that day. This is good cause when i time shift it is not safe for me to drive for at least 4 days. How exactly do i document thid in my pocket pages

Lynn, exactly as you have done here. Journal your thoughts on cards and explain the process from when your friend went into hospital and how you came to care for her hubby....find some cards that tell the story or create your own and maybe some embellishments to do with hospital, caring/sharing. Put up some photos of time together with her hubby and maybe one of them together before she went into hospital. Just document what is in your head. Also make the 21st a day for just you doing what you love after having no time at present. You CAN DO IT....look forward to seeing what you create. Hugs

Thank you!
The time shift process means i need to plan and get liquids into my fridge first. Then i will probably not sleep for at least 2 days and wont be able to eat solids.
But my temp hubby will not have anyone getting him food till Christmas day when his daughter shows up. Uuugghh
I think i need some images of a 1950 house wife to use on my journal. I dont have any pictures i can use

I clicked thru the Dec gallery and left some love. I managed to get the calendars done BEFORE December which is kind of huge, and they're on the way in the mail now. Our photo cards and newsletter is done, and I have a pretty big stash of hand-stamped cards (I'm an SU demo) that we will give out with neighbor and friend gifts. That means my crafting for the holiday is done! I printed off a TON of photos hoping to scrapbook this winter (because I temporarily forgot what my life is like, haha!) but I am putting together pages from our thankful project in November so that's a bit! Just need to dig out alphabet stamps so I can get those done and in books! Hopefully I'll be back before Christmas!

Lynn, I doubt very much that you will be getting coal in your stocking this year! It sounds more like a jewel in your crown!
I think you have a marvelous start on documenting December. Love that retro picture you found! It very much fits the bill!
Tanya, yea on getting all of your December projects done with time to spare!!
That is huge to have those deadlines out of the way!
I had a great start to the December daily but I seem to be fizzling out, more with picture taking than anything. I will need to take a note from Lynn's pages and continue on without all the photos.
OR, I had success yesterday in printing a photo from home...the first time in years I think!! I will have to see what I can do to figure out how to print more than one photo per page!!

Questions::::::
When does everyone start wrapping up the current year and get started thinking about the New Year ahead?
How long before the New Year do you start thinking about your "One Little Word" that you will be using for the upcoming year?
And how many start thinking about and looking for a new way to organize something in your life going into the New Year?

I am not doing one little word any year!!
Too stifling in my chaotic world!
I start thinking about next year on December 31st!
I stay in the here and now as it is too hard to plan ahead!
I am able to be more flexible that way.

Now thinking about organizing something in my life is an ongoing process throughout the year.
As I finish one process I start another thought process. The last one, December 1st, was reorganizing the house to better suit hubbies needs.
I have a major thought process going on right now...purging certain areas of my stash starting with ribbons...that alone will free up a great deal of space, then moving on to flowers.
Only keeping nice lace and flat flowers, the rest will go.
That is as far as I am thinking for now...until we find out if our "assisted living" arrangements will come to fruition.

I did do one little word this year but it looks nothing like the actual one little word class. I ordered early cause i have to allow for shipping time. There were monthly prompts but i focused more on what was happening in my life. So OLW combined with a monthly view.
This year i wont be doing a class. I got a planner which will be my calendar as well as a daily report on my health.

I wrap up the current year on 31st December...I try and take each day at a time now, although we do have TO DO lists and redo those into 1 list at the beginning of each year. We seem to carry a lot of tasks over each year LOL.
I did think about OLW a couple of weeks ago on another forum on this site and now have forgotten what I was going to choose for my word. I had COMMIT for this year and I think I managed to stick with it for about 80% of the year...maybe more. I think I was going to have Tolerance or Patience for next year. Maybe Tolerance. I won't scrapbook the word though as I am so far behind with so many scrapping albums and pages that I need to Commit (there's that word again LOL) to those next year.
As for organising something for next year, we have already planned a trip to Japan to see the Cherry Blossom but other than that we aren't really planning much. We do need to get the house organised as I think we are having visitors from the UK next year...not sure yet. Everything changes around here. Hubby is also looking at brochures and may get a new car....again not sure on that and for now we are managing with 1 between us whilst the youngest boy uses my hubby's car that is 17 years' old. My hubby is one of those guys who believes that if it's not broke, don't fix it and his car is in immaculate condition for its age.
It's 38 degrees here today. I have cards to finish...one for the Featured Stamper, Sis Vicki, and the group Xmas card. I started them 2 evenings ago and never got chance to complete them. I also want to prepare for VSN and hope to join in tomorrow morning as we have a busy weekend so won't be able to join in all of the time.....and then there's scrapping.
Happy weekend everyone

After reading this thread and making comments about not doing OLW the idea has not been far from my mind!!
While in bed last night just before going to sleep I thought of the word I would use if I did commit.
Kindness
Nothing unique about that word but I find myself forgetting it when out in public places and people frustrate me.

Love your OLW Sharon...I also sometimes forget to be nice and kind especially with the youngest who is now back at home with us.
I've been joining in on the VSN and had such fun and still in my nightie and it's 12.30pm here LOL. I can't play tomorrow as we are busy but I will try and do some of the challenges next week and it's helping me to start my 2019 Xmas card stash LOL.
Happy weekend everyone
