August 2015 Scrap Pages and Chatter - sbc15aug

Scrappin' Challenge 2015

Can you believe this is our 7th year of Scrappin' Goal Challenge?! We sure completed an AWESOME number of pages together in 2009 through 2014 and I'm looking forward to MORE Scrap pages together in 2015! Let's keep scrappin'.

It was SO fun to chat about and see everyone's pages, goals and ideas for completing LOTS of scrapbook pages in 2015! Many had a common theme - get more pages done, use what's in our stash, meet new scrapping friends, plan time/crops...

What fun we'll have sharing ideas, cheering success, keeping the motivation and making new friends. Our scrap goal isn't all about getting pages done, it's also about enjoying the process! Please feel free to join at any time!

Here's the CHALLENGE. Each person can share their page goals, pages and ideas. for those of use who like Annual Goals, we will have a better shot at meeting our yearly goal if we break it down by month.

*In this thread, we track our monthly goals. We find it helps us keep getting pages done which is good for all of us.

You choose your own scrapbook page goal and monthly spend goal. You may select 2, 3, 5, 50 pages....you choose. The idea is to be flexible so if you know you're going to be really busy, you can reduce the number one month or if you're going to a couple crops or scrap weekends, up the number. This also works for the budget. Each month, you can change your goals depending on your calendar!

The whole goal of the challenge is to get lots of pages done all the while enjoying sharing with Virtual Friends.

Are you UP for the CHALLENGE? Come and Play in the 2015 Scrapbook Challenge! Here's to Meeting our Scrapping Goals & Meeting New Friends!

We'd love to "oohh" and "aahh" over your pages so please post with key word "sbc15aug"

Hello, hello ...

(waving Hi from Lancaster).... had a fun weekend at CKC. Of course now headed back to reality and workin' but that's ok cuz' I got this afternoon to SCRAP after some exercise with a walk at the park. I've been busy on a work project all morning and it's just not ... well...not coming together so time to give it a rest

This month looks really busy so I'll hope for 15 pages .... :D I still have last months to upload, I got out of the habit which doesn't help ...

Enjoy Sunday

princessp1971 08-02-2015 09:56 AM

I think I will stick with 10. Happy Scrapping everyone!

My YTD is 92

AnniePanda 08-02-2015 02:03 PM

My YTD is 49. I went over my July goal. For August I am setting a goal of 10.

sewflake 08-02-2015 02:22 PM

My YTD is 188 and will set my goal for 15 to 20. I have four already done for August and will post them shortly.

sewflake 08-02-2015 02:24 PM

Hope to hear more from everyone that went to CKC in Lancaster... I have to live vicariously though those that have conventions close to home!!

Annie's Pantry 08-03-2015 07:12 AM

Where has the summer gone......? Seems strange that we are still enjoying 100 degree temperatures during the mornings as I watch mom's putting children on school buses. School officially started today here in AZ, which means that for us in the crafting world our focus changes to harvest festivals and fall vendor events, with Christmas just around the corner, I start to evaluate some of my yearly goals to see where I need to put more attention.

Many of you have asked how come I didn't craft or scrapbook very much in July, I take July off to focus and spend time with my family. As a semi-empty nested retired school teacher, July is still the month I call my own. We are a very busy family here at the canyon, all of my boys (all adults plus 2 spouses at this point) are now living and working here at the canyon with us. July is a high traffic busy month for all of them and I have had the absolute pleasure of spending everyday this past month with my 17 month old granddaughter and have enjoyed every minute of it! :)

But, with that all being said... August is here and time for this grandma to change her focus back to business just a little bit. So my GOAL for this month will be 15 and my year to date so far 75 looking forward to spending the fall with everyone!

NerdyBeth 08-03-2015 08:39 AM

I need to count to see how many I finished last month, but I think I came close to my goal. My goal this month is 20 pages (10 layouts). Might be tough will school and sports starting up again, but that's why it's a goal right?

Looking forward to seeing all the amazing pages everyone makes this month!

Motherload 08-03-2015 09:37 AM

Only finished 3 layouts in July, which puts my yearly total at 39. I would love to reach my yearly goal of 52 this month so please put me down for 13 layouts in August.

Here's my first layout for the month. My sister is visiting this week, so I have to sneak off to my scraproom when she's still asleep, but hopefully I can get a couple more done this week!

The Game's Afoot!

Scrappy48 08-04-2015 06:50 AM

Hello!
I managed to squeak out 10 layouts in July bringing my YTD total to 65. :)

I think I'll shoot for another 10 layouts this month. Working on a this weeks Stashbuster layout, I'll be uploading a day early as I have an out-of-town meeting for the day!

Summer sure is flying by...I'll be an empty-nester in a few more weeks. Eeek...not sure how I feel about that yet!

Crooked Stamper 08-05-2015 04:41 PM

I did 2 in July for a YTD of 40. My August goal will be 2.

Scrappy48 08-05-2015 04:58 PM

Stash Buster Week One is up!

Here's this link to Stash Buster: Week One

And I finally finished this sketch layout: Graduation day

Hope you all have a wonderful week! Happy Scrappin!
:)

Elizabeth G. 08-05-2015 06:16 PM

I didn't fully complete 6 last month, but I have 4 partially done. :)

I'm going to shoot for 12 for this month (to make up for the 6 I didn't complete).

Lmn 08-05-2015 08:33 PM

hey

wow, already some awesome inspiration w/ the Scraplift and the first Aug Stash challenge! I have so many pages I want to get done but whew, just feels like life is a little busy right now ....

My youngest DS found an apt and is moving out this weekend so we'll be back to empty nest ... happy and sad at the same time ...

Looking for scrap time this weekend!

Crooked Stamper 08-06-2015 03:46 AM

Finally rested up from almost a week in Lancaster & the CKC convention. Fun time especially meeting up with Lela & Terry!! I did several mixed media classes & need to finish those projects but my scrapbook pages are done except for putting photos on them.

Lmn 08-08-2015 08:39 PM

Hello Weekend

Time for Sunday, I'm looking forward to some rest, relaxation & I hope scrapping.

Whew! My schedule has been just too crazy and it's about to be worse for the next 2 weeks ... travel again. This time I'll be in Indiana this upcoming week and Texas the following week.

I do plan to take the last week of August for vacation so maybe they'll be scrap time when I'm actually not hopping around for work, LOL!

All good! Wishing you scrappy moments :o

AnniePanda 08-09-2015 12:40 PM

Hope all of you are having a good weekend - I am, just finished my 4th layout for the month I'm happy to say. I still have a good number of days left in this month to reach my goal.
Here is my latest. I played around with multiple copies of the same pic. Need to work on it, but had fun telling this sweet puppy story.

Hi all. Lots of scrapping going on. After last weekend at CKC and enjoying meeting and spending time with LouAnn and Lela, I'm looking forward to this coming up week. I've spent the past week catching up with work and getting DGS ready to go to Camp Cadet (which is a state police run camp for boys and girls ages 11-13). DH birthday was Friday and we had a small celebration for him by taking him out for his birthday Friday night and Saturday (I always love an excuse to not have to cook :)) and today we dropped off DGS for his week of camp. DH leaves early Tuesday a.m. for a business trip to Indiana and won't be coming home till Wednesday so it'll just be Rufus and I at home..I'm planning on making some cards and getting things laid out to hopefully scrap the next week when DH and DGS go to the beach on vacation. I'm staying behind this year since we're not real comfortable both leaving the area for vacation with the business so since I went last year, DH is going this year (truth be told, I'll be having a VERY relaxing vacation with just the dog for company lol!) Have a good week all!

NerdyBeth 08-11-2015 10:02 AM

Dang kids and their schedule pickups and shots and physicals and yadda, yadda, yadda...

Who knew parenting would be so exhausting?!? And cut into so much of my scrapbooking time?!? And if I complain to my kids they just smile and let out a loud, evil giggle as they write down one more thing on the calendar!!

Kidding...well, mostly. Each of my kids do have an evil giggle whenever I "complain" about having to be a mom. Oh, the sarcasm runs deep in our household.

So far this month I have 1 layout that is about 50% finished on my scrapbook table. *sigh* Moving right along, I am.

Motherload 08-11-2015 10:43 AM

Next couple of days are pretty busy for me, too, but I can't totally blame my kids. Bummer! Hope to get some scrapping time in on Thursday. . .

Anavon, I think I missed some significant posts by you...you're living in Arizona? For how long? You said the canyon--the Grand Canyon? I'm in Glendale/Phoenix.

Motherload 08-13-2015 08:27 AM

Good morning, everyone. So my vacation is done and my house guest is gone, the kids are fed and I have a load of laundry going. Just need to finish up my Bible study and then I can start editing pictures to send to Costco for printing, and then maybe I can actually get to scrapbook a little today!

Scrappy48 08-13-2015 11:11 AM

Hello everyone!
I catching up on what everyone's been up to and just poked my head in to say 'hi', I'll be posting Stash Busters later on today(hopefully). I've been focusing on my family and our dog (he's 13 years and started having seizures at the end of July) :( We are in the process of ruling out hypothyroidism. Scariest thing I've witnessed!
We are in the final two weeks of having the girls home for the summer. Starting to pack for college! My oldest will be heading back to MSU and my youngest to GVSU. Not sure how I feel about it yet. :???:
But hopefully,(my hubby &) I will adjust well. I'm planning on spending some time catching up on my goals. I took advantage of Walgreen's .9 cent prints a couple of weeks ago and got A LOT of pictures printed out! And we've made plans for a few weekend trips to see the girls and have some fun by ourselves.
Hope everyone has had an enjoyable summer and is gearing up for another school year! :)

Motherload 08-13-2015 08:04 PM

So no scrapping for me after all today. I tried to upload my photos to the Costco photo center and it's offline because there were some security issues and the site may have been compromised. So now I have to figure out some other place to get my photos printed unless I want to drive down to Costco, upload my photos from a flash drive, and wait an hour for them to be developed. Sigh . . .

yes, we now live at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Hubby is director of the IMAX, we moved here the first of DEC. I spent most of January in the hospital or in bed recovering from another minor heart attack and finding out that I have congestive heart failure. So I have spent the last six months, getting on top of everything and I feel great now.

All of our boys, wives and granddaughter moved here with us. They all have jobs and are doing really well. We are having a great time, being closer to my mom and all my extended family, but I miss the beach a lot.

I knew you lived in Glendale and now that I am feeling better and can start traveling a little bit on my own, I would love to get together sometime.

Happy Saturday

Hello from downtown Indianapolis, Indiana! :o

I got to spend the weekend w/ oldest DS and see the Men's US gymnastics National Championships, very fun ...brings back lots of memories.

I'll be in Texas all next week so no scrappin' but vacation for the week after and I'm very much looking forward to the time off. We're planning a mini-vaca for 2-3 days and the rest of the time, I have a list of things I'd like to get done around the house plus scrapping (of course).

I also took advantage of the $.09 sale Walgreens had (Ann) so I have lots of recent picts I'd love to get busy getting in Albums. I really have some fun photos from this summer's US Tour (LOL) I'd like to get those done

Enjoy your weekend

eeddmm 08-15-2015 05:21 PM

Doing happy dance here :) I just finished 2 pages along with a 10 picture mini album that went with it. At the one class at CKC, we started these and I finished it up tonight. It's for Christmas so I'll have to take note to take the appropriate type pics this year or try to find old pictures to put on the pages. I'll have to take a picture of it tomorrow and try to figure out how to download them. Not sure how many pages to count though...maybe 3 or 4? There's 2 base pages and the mini album involved quite a bit of "fussy" cutting so it's taken me about 4 hours to finish it.

AnniePanda 08-16-2015 04:03 PM

I've spent the day getting photo files ready to send to Shutterfly from spending Friday and Saturday at Disney World! Looking forward to scrapping them. Although I do still have several pages I can still do before those arrive. Monday and Tuesday will be consumed with work, then hopefully I can get to making pages again. I still need 6 pages to meet my goal for this month, it will be a struggle but I will enjoy what I can.

eeddmm 08-16-2015 04:09 PM

Hey Joyce Ann. When we were at the CKC in Lancaster, LouAnn and Lela showed me the stand that you do create for..very cool!

I am going to try to get a lot of my pages from the past several years prepped to send to Persnickety Prints and have them printed...I probably have at least 100 to print. I've been putting if off cause I didn't remember how and Persnickety sent me an email a few weeks ago that showed how to do it..very opportunistic on their part :)

sewflake 08-17-2015 05:52 AM

I have been wanting to order prints online for several months but the only time I tried it I ended up with cropping on my photos that I did not want!! I have not learned how to edit and crop unless I am at the store. I have been ordering from Sam's (on site) for a number of years but I am no longer pleased with the paper they use for printing.

My best bet is to go to Walgreen and talk with the people there and see if they can give me any help....... 9 cents a copy is a good deal!

mepylant 08-17-2015 09:11 AM

I got 2 pages completed last month! UGH! LOL
I want to stick with 5 this month. I have a crop this Friday, so maybe I can get that knocked out then.

Thanks everyone!!!
