Birthday Book Instructions
Here are the directions for the Birthday Book shown here:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
My husband created this Birthday Book after I saw something similar in a scrapbooking store. I really liked their class sample and ordered the kit (Pine Cone Press "Library Pockets", item #K-LP, $7.25) to make one, since the class was over and they were out of the kit, but I had to wait a week to get it. My husband went home that day and made his own version much bigger and better. I still have the packaged kit and have not even opened it, since I like my husband's version much better. And he created it in the perfect colors (the kit came in manila folder color only--you have to cover it all with colored cardstock--and no directions in the kit!) with textured cardstock. I love it!!
He has since made three more of these for me in different colors. I love that you can make it in exactly the colors you want.
The Dec/Jan 2006 Papercrafts has a book with a similar spine (page 30 & 31). However, I like the way my husband does the binding & spine in his book much better. It looks very cool in person!

Absolutely ADORABLE design! I'm going to make some for my kids/spouses!
Now, tell me, could the book and pockets be made a tad bigger to be able to stash a couple of cards in the pocket so that one is prepared for the next few special events????? I'm game to try it!

I am sure you could make the book bigger to accomodate cards in the pockets. We don't have one of those great Rubicoil binding machines, so he stayed with the smaller book with an accordion binding. He has thought about trying to enlarge the pattern, but all I wanted was the tag itself for birthday reminders. He also mentioned making a matching accordion file for cards--but I like the idea of just one book with the birthdays and cards in one, rather than two separate books.

Ou la la! Thanks for sharing this template.
I was thinking, It would be great to make this book, but instead of having birthday tags, put a gift card for each pocket for every month?
