At convention I rec'd a very cool swap.... It was a magic money holder. Meaning that which ever side you opened the card holder it looked like the money "jumped" to the other side!
I thought I can figure this out!!! Well when I decided to carefully take it apart, my DD decided she too wanted to see it and it fell apart to the point I didn't know how it went back together!!
But I studied it and soon figured out how to do it! I had a AH HA moment! So thats how it's done! Need a lightbulb icon here! They are incredibly easy and fun. I made a few out of the SSK and plan on selling them at a local craft bazaar coming up. I will try to get directions up for everyone. They are great gifts!
Has anyone else on here seen or done these? I searched the gallery but nothing came up!
I origianlly posted this is the demo chit chat forum, now I am posting it here to share with everyone else.
I made several using the Polka Dot Party SSK and the Sparkling Season SSK!
I would be interested in this technique also, but the files were corrupt and would not open. If you can please send these instructions again, I am interested in finding out how this works.
Must have had a stuck on stupid moment--tried again using the Wizard and GOT IT!! Thanks, so much--my nieces will get a kick out of their Christmas money holder.

Lisa,
I cannot get this to open, all I get is a screen saying your winzip trial period is over. Is there another way to view this or am I doing something wrong. I know that I am computer challenged. Linda
Help! I printed out the instructions on this....but I am not getting how it is folded/put together......etc. How is the money attached? Are the layers attached to the ribbon? I know it will probably be a DUH moment when I get the answer!!
I finally made it, scratching my head the whole time saying "This won't work!!" Well, to my surprise it did. I finally figured out that what I thought were strips of cellohane tape in the pictures were actually white organdy ribbon! That solved alot of my questions. Also the diagram at the very bottom of the other source "Japanese Magic Card" was very helpful on how to actually open & close the card. The "Japanese" card has a different way to place your ribbon though so don't get confused by that. Now that I know how to make it, should you somehow have the directions on the card so the recepient can know what to do with the card. I know someone can come up with something cute to say. Like "Magic card, open, turn & reopen & watch money change position?" Now, that is certainly not cute !! Any other suggestions??

Off the top of my head (and I haven't made one of these yet but I'm going to try today)...
I'm a magic card
I like to play with money
Open me a different way
and you'll see something "funny".
OR
I'm a magic card
I play Hide and Seek
Open me a different way
and then take a peek
As I haven't made or seen one before, I don't really know what happens. Maybe I'll have a better idea once I've made one and seen it in action.
Have you tried "right-clicking" on the files (the pdf files that "GarnetJ" posted about half-way down the thread) and then choosing "save target"? You can save the files right to your desktop and then double click the icons to open the files. The files in the first post are zip-files but the pdf files will be easier for you unless you have experience opening zipped files.
You can PM me with your email address and I'll email the unzipped files to you if you don't have any luck.
This is too cool! Remember those Jacob's ladders toys you can get at Cracker Barrel and any "Old fashioned" place (Williamsburg, VA etc...)? That's exactly what this is
Glad you managed to save the pdf files. Now you'll be able to open all the wonderful files people share on this forum. Have fun making the card. I haven't made one yet. I was going to but things are a bit hectic around here at the moment.
I did have one question. How do you present the card so they know it is a magic card? Is there a way to do something without having to show them as soon as they open it? I am asking because I want to make a graduation card and sometimes they dont open there card in front of you. So it would be tough to show them. Do you have any suggestions. Thanks so much for your help!!!!
