Default Card and Envelope measurements

Everytime I need an envelope for my cards I'd have to sit down and remeasure everything in my box of envelopes to find the right one. Finally I sat down one evening and compiled a cheat sheet for reference. These are measurements of most common card sizes. I included what size Card (stock) paper you need to make the card and where to score. Then I add the size envelope needed for that card. Some measurements are for off size cards and envelopes too. Hope this helps others.

CARD SIZES

A1 or 4 BAR (thank you notes)
Envelope size - 3-5/8 x 5-1/8
Card paper size - 7 x 4-7/8
Score - 3
Finished card size - 3 x 4-7/8

A2 (common & invitation size)
Envelope size - 4- 3/8 x 5
Card paper size - 5 x 8 of letter sized sheet cardstock
Score - 4 Gate fold score --- 2-1/8 & 6-3/8
Finished card size - 4 x 5

A6 (great in-between size & for flat cards)
Envelope size - 4 x 6
Card paper size - 9 x 6
Score - 4 Gate fold score --- 2 & 6
Finished card size - 4 x 6

A7 (formal size like for weddings)
Envelope size - 5 x 7
Card paper size - 7 x 10
Score - 5 Gate fold score --- 2 & 7
Finished card size - 5 x 7

A9 (alternative formal size)
Envelope size - 5 x 8
Card paper size - 8 x 11
Score - 5 Gate fold score --- 2 & 8
Finished card size - 5 x 8

Business Letter
Envelope - 4 x 9 Envelope 3 x 6
Card paper size - 7 x 9 Card paper size - 6 x 6
Score - 3 Gate fold score --- 1-7/8 & 5- 5/8 Score - 3 gate 1-5/8 & 4-7/8
Finished card size - 3 x 9 Finished card - 3 x 6

Tall
Envelope size - 5 x 4
Card paper size - 4 x 11
Score - 5
Finished card size 4 x 5

Gift Card
Envelope size 3 x 3
Card paper - 3 x 6
Score - 3
Finished card size - 3 x 3

SQUARE CARDS
Small
Envelope size - 3 x 3
Card Paper size - 3 x 6
Score - 3
Finished card size - 3 x 3

Medium
Envelope size - 5 x 5
Card paper size 9 x 4
Score - 4
Finished card size 4 x 4

Large
Envelope size - 5 x 5
Card paper size 5 x 10

Thanks! I cut and paste it into a file to keep. I had some of that in a pocket size I carry with me but this is much more comprehensive!

I also printed out that chart from the link. Always great to minimize scraps!

Thanks so much. I have printed this out and taped to my stamping bookcase. To make it fit to one sheet of paper, I added a 1 column table, cut and pasted half in the first column half in the second. Then mounted on a piece of cardstock. I am sure I will embellish it too, just because I can.

If you go back to my original post you will see that the card stock measurement before scoring is listed for each individual card size. Most people have a great assortment of cardstock that is bought in the 8.5" x 11" size. This is the size card stock I started with for all the card measurements. For example to make an A2 card which is a finished size of 4.25" x 5.5" you start with a cardstock piece of 8.5" x 5.5". So a standard sheet of cardstock of 8.5 x 11 will yield 2 cards. Hope this helps.

I have to admit that with the time it took to figure out all the card sizes, score lines, etc. I was not motivated to figure out envelope sizes and score lines. Instead it is way easier to purchase the WE R MEMORY KEEPERS ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD. Availeable here. WeR Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board: A Cherry On Top.
This board is fantastic! All measurements are right on the board and every envelope I have made has been perfect! I know some of the scoreboards (Martha Stewart, and Stampin up ) have an envelope triangle with their scoreboards but it has limited envelope sizes. You will not be disappointed with the WE R MEMORY KEEPERS envelope board in my opinion.
