Photo Challenge #94 'Celebrations' (9-28-10)
3 Attachment(s)
I am your guest hostess this week.

Photo challenge #94: Celebrations noun
The act of observing a day or an event with ceremonies.
The act of showing joyful satisfaction in an event.
A big, exuberant party.
A large or important social gathering.
An expression of warm approval.

So how do you define Celebrations? That is your photo challenge this week. There are so many ways to interpret this and I can't wait to see how you do.

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump in and start any of the photo challenges at anytime..
~ Again - HAVE FUN

So for me, celebration is the joining of two souls becoming one. I had friends get married this past weekend and was asked to make their cake (well a cupcake cake). 225 cupcakes (5 different kinds!) to be exact! Only 100 fit on the stand at a time. Here are a few shots I took after I got the cake all set up. (my mom helped me place the flowers)

Here are a few more of my favorite shots from the reception (it was too hard to take pictures during the wedding as I sat pretty far back and only had heads in my way.)

The first picture is of the buffet table waiting for food. Second is of the fellowship hall all decorated. And last, the bride and groom getting ready to feed each other cake. I decided to play with this one, making it black n white and bringing back color just to the flowers and topper and the sparkles at her waist.

Amber, I love your photos! That tower of cupcakes is beautiful. You and your mother made it a work of art! I love how you colored in the black and white photo of the bridal pair! Beautiful!

I was just about to upload the photos I took on our weekend reunion, when I discovered that my camera card was missing. I switched cards near the end of the weekend, and I think I left the card on the dining room table. I sure hope whoever found it, saves it and doesn't throw it out, as it had a lot of great pics of our fun weekend celebration......42 years of nursing! 53 graduated in our class and we used to have a reunion every 5 years, but lately we have been getting together every 2-3 years, as we are starting to realize we won't be around forever!
The first is a group shot before dinner. The second is taken at the home of a classmate. We never run out of things to talk about at these reunions!

Ina - Love that second shot! what a great celebration. Hope your card is found and sent to you!

I'll have to see what I can come up with for this - can't think of any impending celebrations. That's a beautiful cup-cake cake, I love the colour scheme and decorations. The only time I tried one, I really wanted flat topped cakes that I could flood with icing, but after DH, his work and I had eaten our way through four batches of domed cakes, I had to settle for swirled butter icing. In the end it was probably much easier, too :D.

Hope your missing card turns up somewhere, Ina. I write my name and email address on mine, but I just noticed before our holidays that the writing was quite faded - time to fix that.

Another way to interpert celebrations: The boys celebrating after getting a touchdown. My son is the one with the red spikes.

I was having trouble coming up with an idea for this - short of a photo of a bottle of wine I have been saving (for too long!) for a special occasion such as DH getting a permanent job again.
But - we were staying in a cottage belonging to friends at the weekend. They've always had a tradition of decorating eggs for Easter, and each year there's a fresh display produced by the three generations who gather there for the holiday. A bit more interesting than a bottle of wine :D.

Love the egg on the swing. He looks scared!

Sabrina, cool pictures of the eggs. That would be a celebration...... getting together to decorate eggs!

Amber, I love the photo of your son's team celebrating! Kids have such a wonderful way of celebrating 'life'!

My little sister turned 15 on Friday - so this challenge totally applies! I guess it was kind of cheating, since I took the pictures before I read the challenge... hehe!! :D

Not cheating at all Hannah. (at least I don't think so) Love your pictures.
