Photo Challenge #192 ~ Purse-onally speaking; what's in your purse {02/11/2014}

I had a few ideas I was thinking of for a challenge this month - but I'm afraid I never got round to taking photos for any of them , and here it is Tuesday and I have a chance to actually post my challenge on time.

So here's a really easy one anyone can participate in, and for which I was able to take some quick photos. What's in YOUR purse?? It's a good chance to tidy it out, too ;-) - I found the admission ticket from an exhibition we went to in Lausanne last September. You don't have to share everything in your purse, feel free to be selective! And if you like, share a photo of the purse too.

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ Please jump in and join us in the photo challenges at any time!

I get teased in work because of the amount of useful things I carry in my bag - penknife including scissors, measuring tape, screwdriver. In my backpack there is always sellotape and a big permanent marker, and people know they can always get a postage stamp from me.
Also there - wet wipes, and spectacle wipes which I actually keep for cleaning my camera lens. Bus tickets - soon I'll be able to dispense with one because the Rambler ticket can now be pre-loaded onto my smart card next time I need to buy one. Spare phone - because my main provider doesn't support texts to the States  other than to AT&T customers, so I have one that I can text with when I need to. External back-up ~ now that I don't carry my Filo-fax round all the time, there's room for this in my purse, and I can fit a spare camera battery and memory card in the case too.
My French translator I've had for years - in fact, I need to change the address label on it. It's a brilliant little one which conjugates verbs in all tenses, and has several word games including anagrams and hangman, a great way of learning and expanding vocabulary. The lavender oil is one of my cure-all remedies - great for burns, mildly antiseptic, great for combating a bad smell!!

And a purse that totally does not reflect my personality, but I love it! It's the first time ever that I've bought one just because I saw it and liked it, not because my old one had broken and needed to be replaced in a hurry by something as suitable as I could get (lots of pockets, shoulder strap...) as quickly as possible.

So - share some of your purse contents and give us a glimpse of your personality!!

For me, the quality of a purse is in the amount it will hold! I'll have some photos for you shortly. This is a great challenge that everyone can do!

My purse holds all of the stuff that my hubby doesn't want to carry! LOL...like brochures that he collects when we are traveling...drives me crazy. :-P

Great challenge and great photos Sabrina. The contents of a purse tell a lot about a person. I can see you are very practical, helpful, and resourceful! Opal, lets see photos of your husband's stuff in your purse!
Here are some photos of the contents of my purse yesterday when I took the photos. I usually carry my camera too, but it was in use!
1. a package of tissues, hairbrush and a pair of socks (I don't usually carry those....didn't remember they were in there)
2. Candy, lipstick, pen. The package is of salty Dutch candy, that my kids love!
3. Wipes, wallet, and my daytimer. I am not in the 21st century yet, as far as technology is concerned. As you will see, I don't even carry a cell phone most of the time. I have a smart phone that I use very rarely and has all the aps disabled.
4. A shopping bag that compacts to a very small size. I don't usually have a book in my purse either, but my sister-in-law needed a ride to the hospital with a rapid heart rate, so that I took a book, knowing I would have to wait for an extended period of time. When I got to her house, her heart emergency had resolved itself.
5. The purse I currently use. It was given to me as a shoe bag, but I have been using it, as my regular purse is definitely not a winter purse as you can see in the next photo.
6. My regular purse, which I love, but it's not a winter purse.

LOL, some of the things you have in your purse are in my backpack - comb rather than a hairbrush, book, shopping bags And my camera... I
love your regular purse, but the shoe bag looks great to use too. The Dutch candy looks tasty - it's not the salty licorice, is it?

yellowrose46 02-12-2014 12:31 PM

Yes, it's the salt licorice candy and we have a dutch store in our town. My sister-in-law is always buying packages for my kids, and I keep forgetting to give it to them, so it sits in my purse.

I've never seen the salty one here, but a Norwegian friend gave me some to try (I think it's much more common there) and I loved it!

A great idea - my purse contents reflect the state of my life at any one time - interesting for a social psychology buff like myself. I also just signed up to sell Miche purses and this gives me an idea for a fun activity at my parties :)

I now have a small pac-safe purse that is cross body...I can't use my left arm /neck so i had to downsize

Cook22 02-23-2014 09:52 AM

Is that a proper old-fashioned calculator??

How do you find a cross-body bag? I looked at them when I was last getting a new camera bag, but I'm so used to backpacks for my heavier stuff that I wasn't sure about making the switch.

FMcrafter 02-23-2014 10:43 AM

My bag
PacSafe MetroSafe GII | Jet-Setter

I wanted something that could hold all my stuff...I wanted cross body for the protection of my neck arm...while doing an internet search for cross body purse I came across the pac-safe. I like it cause you can't just cut the strap and steal the bag...the zippers are made for you and hard for someone else to use...the front has pockets so you can hide your music but still put your ear buds through...there is an rfid protection ...the back has a pocket were I put my invoices and coupons...the side has a water bottle holder...a MUST...right now I carry my cell phone in my pocket cause it is my only phone

FMcrafter 02-23-2014 10:44 AM

oooppsss...the black bag that says HALO is a backup charger/flashlight...I wanted to be able to charge my phone anywhere since it is my only one...no land line

yellowrose46 02-23-2014 11:43 AM

Looks like a great bag to have Lynn! I see it still holds lots of stuff!

FMcrafter 02-23-2014 03:55 PM

Oh yup a real calculator so i can figure the tip...i just give the calculator to the person holding the bill and ask them my share! Yup i am that bad

I used to use the ll bean teardrop bag

armadillo 02-25-2014 04:57 PM

I don't use a purse. I wear shorts year round and they have lots of pockets. That sure is a lot of stuff y'all carry in your purses though. I have a couple of friends that complain about how heavy their purses are and told them let me empty them and put back what is necessary but they wouldn't let me empty their purses.
