Question What type of foam does MISTI use?

I was crafting with my girls and left all the craft stuff out as it's Christmas time and we have more stuff to do. What I didn't realise was that after using the MISTI, I didn't put the foam back with it. Cue my daughters cutting it up and punching it for their own projects while I was occupied.
They didn't realise what it was and they had asked about making something so really it was just an accident - and a reminder I should make sure to put the foam back again!!!
The foam seems quite more dense than cheap fun foam, even if I was to glue layers together.
Does anyone know what type of foam it is? And also what is the thickness (mm or inch is fine)? Anyone else successfully replaced the foam?
Thanks for any answers

The foam is 3 mm if you have that thickness available to you.

The original MISTIs were handmade with readily-available materials (although used in a very unique way, thankfully!). I have some fun foam that is thick like the foam in the MISTI that I purchased at either JoAnn's or Michael's or someplace similar.

What about a 3mm mouse pad? I use them sometimes when I need a cushion for stamping.

If you can't find 3 mm, adhering two 1.5 mm fun foam pieces might work since it's readily available. I stuck two pieces together at one point for some reason that escapes me at the moment (and probably forever) and think I used Scor-Tape.

I think she sells them-maybe you can order or have a friend mail to you. Retail Shop

I like the mousepad idea.

Or maybe the big shot embossing pad (tan) or any brand's can be cut down to fit if it is the right thickness? Do your LSSs have those?

I assume you are speaking of the foam added for polymer stamping?

My Petunia has a mouse pad...foam with the vinyl pink grid and their logo on it. It is available, for sure, on their online webite. Believe it or not, this is exactly the same as the plain foam. It sells for $5.99, I believe, and is perfect to replace the foam, plus with the vinyl grid covering so it wipes clean of ink in a second!

I replaced my foam immediately with this. My local Mom & Pop craft store actually sold the mouse pad in their store along with other MISTI products. I took one look and asked if it was the same as the foam pad...store clerks didn't know as they weren't too familiar with the MISTI yet. I bought it on the off-chance that it would work as a replacement...and it did! I love it for the ease of cleaning alone.
