Default Stamp in MISTI lifts cardstock up

I have a problem with my MISTI that is driving me crazy. When I stamp cardstock of any weight the stamp ALWAYS lifts my paper up off the mat - no matter how many magnets I use. What am I doing wrong? I watch demos and that never happens to them. The door/stamp lifts up without moving the cardstock. Can someone please help me. Thanks

You are not doing anything wrong. The good news is the fault is not related to your MISTI or your cardstock, the bad news is, the problem is due to your stamps. I have a number acrylic stamps (mostly freebies that come with magazines) that stick to the cardstock.

Rubbing an eraser over the stamps or washing in dishwashing liquid sometimes helps. Other ladies might know of better methods. When I'm using a dodgy stamp that sticks, I don't use any magnets but I make sure the cardstock is in a corner. I open the lid fully and carefully peel the card off the stamp, repeat process until stamped thoroughly.

I have never had the problem with red rubber stamps, just the some clear acrylic ones. Dont give up.

I completely agree with Susie. MANY clear stamps will stick and lift, even expensive ones! I apply Versamark to new stamps, to help them hold ink, and to help them not lift the cardstock.

Thank you both Susie & harvestmoon for responding & for the tips. I will try them. Susie, Where do I buy red rubber stamps, I've not heard of them before.

Edna there was a time when the majority of stamps were made with red rubber, many companies still do thankfully, they are beautiful to stamp with. Unity Stamp Company is one of my favourites. Don't be put off by acrylic stamps though, most of them are good.

One thing I have experienced, price is NOT an indication of quality.
