Default How to stamp and use watercolors

Hi there, can someone please tell me how and what to use if I want to watercolor a stamped image? Would I use versa Mark and then emboss the outline and then watercolor? I'm not sure how to go about it and ever since I bought my Misti I am wanting to try all kinds of stamping. Thanks so much!

yes, you could eb your image then watercolour.
One technique I use is to colour a solid image stamp with Memento markers or any other water based markers, spray with water and stamp. You can achieve an nice effect. I used watercolour crayons on this card but same tech.

Congrats wanting to try this cool medium! I love to play with it - the effects are always different.

When I don't want to emboss my image, which is most of the time, I use either Archival Ink Pads by Ranger, or VersaFine, for great detail. Neither will bleed, which is what you need for the water saturation, and I like to lightly heat set mine just to be safe. Both come in other colors, so you don't need to always stamp your image in black, which is nice if you're doing florals (a brown can have a softer look). You may need to use a stamp cleaner on your stamps (like Stazon stamp cleaner) with these permanent/waterproof stamp pads.

Good luck, and have fun!!!

Penny Black (the company) has many wonderful videos about watercoloring stamped images too. If you enjoy watching videos, check them out for ideas/techniques: https://www.youtube.com/user/PennyBlackInc

Default Using Misti with Spectrum Aqua Markers

This is purely my own experiment. I simply colored the Penny Black images (Winged Beauty) with markers and then simply spritz some water over (with mist over MISTI, so to speak) and stamp...that's it. The best thing about MISTI, it helps me align with the stamp and design and I can add multiple colors... Hope this helps!
