Default MISTI Clean Help!

I happen to get some glue (removable for unmounted stamps) on the cover of my Misti. What can I use to safely remove the glue??? Do I try Undo? Or alcohol??? Help?

Is this liquid glue, removable tape, or what exactly did you use? I have safely removed adhesive using scotch tape. It takes a while, but it will grab the removable adhesive from the Misti safely. Then I used my Novice Cleaner to get it super clean.

It's a liquid "removable" adhesive I put on the back of my unmounted rubber stamps to stick on the lid of the misti ....It doesn't usually leave a residue, but I think I didn't let it dry enough prior to using it ... and it left some sticky gook on it ...

Been reading through the threads on cleaning the MISTI. Basically your glue is acting like a scratch as it is quite thick. On the thread I will paste here, Lydia says to use NOVUS2 cleaner. It is for scratches. Read the thread and see what you think.

Misti Cleaner by Reddyisco at Splitcoaststampers

She is mentioning Onyx Black ink, but it stained the surface. After you remove the gunk, it may act as a stain, which is why I am linking this thread.

Here is one on removing sticky residue: Remove Sticky Residue by taylors726 at Splitcoaststampers

Good Luck!

Thank you! I have some of that and I'll definitely be using it .... i used it periodically to clean my Misti, but can use it more often when that happens. The adhesive usually doesn't stick to the cover, only when its not dried completely... BUT..... i did happen to find another way to use my unmounted stamps with my Misti with a stamp tool from Purple Onion Designs!

I'll chime in here with my "go to" for removing sticky residue- Avon Skin So Soft. I've used it on so many things to take sticky gunk off. I can't see any reason for it to harm the plastic of your Misti.

I use meths to get the sticky residue off of my stamping platform lid. Works fine. Just don't use acetone!

Meths? Please help with what you are referring to.

Methylated spirits—the purple stuff. I actually just looked it up. It says:

Widely used Industrial Grade Denatured Alcohol used in all applications requiring a coloured industrial grade alcohol which can tolerate a small amount of water. Methylated Spirits is a clear purple, primary, aliphatic alcohol, with a mild non-residual odour and is miscible with most hydrocarbon solvents and chemicals.

Seems to be mostly British, Auz, and NZ, so you can safely ignore this entire thread of mine if you are US-based. Lol.

It is still alcohol based, which could harm your MIST. I wouldn’t chance it. Thanks for explaining the product.

I can't speak for the Misti, but both meths and regular pharmacy alcohol work fine on my Tim Holtz stamping platform, and on my acrylic blocks, which I sometimes use for holding stamps as well. Maybe the Misti is made of different plastic?

Glad it works for you on your platform. Since she was asking about the MISTI, I am sticking with approved cleaners for the MISTI. I have had acrylic blocks get that hazy look that will not clean and I did use alcohol. I have since learned not to use alcohol on any plastic or acrylic items. I will stick to safe cleaners. I might even give the Skin So Soft a try as I have seen it recommended before.
