Default My First Gelli Plate

I just received my Gelli plate for an early birthday present. Where do you start? I can't wait to try this out.

I did a search for gel plate on the tutorials page - there were 7 items in the results. That might be a good place to start. Note: I didn’t click on any of the links to see if there are any easy ones. I also don’t have a gel plate so not sure I’d know anyway.

Pam’s suggestion is a good one. Gelli Arts have resources on their own web pages, you could try those (here). Of course there are a gazillion videos on YouTube - your only difficulty there might be narrowing it down to ones that are interesting to you.

I think your best starting point might be to get yourself in the mindset that you’re just playing, don’t put pressure on yourself to start off with - just experiment, have some fun and see what happens. One of the beauties of gel printing is that you don’t have to use expensive materials. I don’t play with mine as often as I should but when I do, I usually use printer paper to pull my prints, not more costly cardstock.

Have fun!

Ohhh, you are in for a real treat! They are amazing! I remember that in the beginning, it was a matter of finding out what types of prints I liked. I didn't really like the totally abstract look, so when I added stencils to the equation, that did it for me! Love my gel plates...!

They are so much fun, and there's so much you can do with them! My newest favorite technique is to use them as stamps after I add inks and paints.
