Best paper for acrylic paints?

I painted a snowman using acrylic paints onto watercolor paper. The paper warped, probably from the wetness & weight of the paint. It did not flatten out when it dried

What is the best paper to use for acrylic paint that won't warp? I would like to paint card fronts, but if I mount the warped card onto a CS base, I'm thinking the entire card will be warped & not lay flat.

If all paper will do that, do you think I can lightly spray the backside of the dried piece with water, then put it between heavy books to flatten it?

I bought some larger pieces of matboard that I can cut to size in my guillotine cutter - that's very sturdy but thin enough for a card front.

I would actually think watercolor paper should work, but then I tend to use acrylic paint like watercolor, diluted or in multiple thin layers. What weight was the paper you were using?

I have successfully used acrylic paint on 140 lb watercolor paper and paper that is marked as "mixed media" paper, which is a lighter weight. What weight paper did you use?

I'm not sure of the weight, but the paper felt pretty heavy. So maybe 100 or 140 lb? I'll have to look when I get home from work. I didn't dilute the paint with water.

I picked up a couple of tablets of lightweight chipboard this past weekend. Maybe that will work.

The closest art store is well over an hour away, almost in downtown area of Orlando. ("Blech" on the traffic). They might have an online store where I can pick up the good quality watercolor paper.

What I used is 140 lb cold water press watercolor paper. It is something I picked up at Target, of all places. Anyway, tonight, I gesso'd a piece of that cardstock before painting on it. It warped, but only a bit and I was able to control it as the paint dried. The piece is not perfectly flat, but it should be OK as a card front.

I use acrylics on everything--tissue paper, book paper, Bible pages, etc. One technique I love is to use it on tissue paper and then cut out the image and glue to my Bible page, card, whatever. It's very thin and will flatten out when glued to your card. Otherwise, I find it always warps on everything. I am used to it and love it. I al recommend making sure you use very thin layers of the paint.

I had my first attempt using acrylics at a friend's house this week. We used this paper:
Strathmore� 400 Series Acrylic Pad

It is really heavy paper (246 lb). It held up really well, even when I tried to thin out an area by brushing it with a watery brush. (looked terrible, but the paper held up!)
I should note that it is textured, kind of like canvas.
