I thought it might be fun to talk about and maybe even share pics of our New Years art journal pages. Have anyone started theirs or are we all still mulling over ideas in our heads.
I guess I'm in the thinking it over stage still. I need to dig a path to even get into my room and the un-bury my desk at least partially before I can even think about getting crafty again.
**note: you will notice I did not ask for a New Years resolution list, I'm more interested is talking about and seeing everyone's artwork.
Weather is going to be nasty tonite and tomorrow morning so working in a journal sounds perfect. DH will be going to bed early and working tomorrow anyway so hopefully I'll have something to show off. Maybe it will help keep my mind off him and the kid going back and forth on bad roads for work.
I have tried to put together a journal kit so I could grab it and have supplies needed close at hand and then put it/them away when done but I'm still figuring out my style. Maybe "over load" is why I have not done as much journaling as I had hoped I would. I think about it all the time and then don't follow thru.
Anyone come up with a theme or catch phrase for their new year art journey"?
Stacy you came up with the catch phrase- Overload. I loved it.
I guess my word is play. I am just going to play. No pressure & no fuss.
I was watching Shannon Green's You Tube videos. She was showing her art journals for the end of the year. One of them was made while she set on the sofa and just played. She mainly used a cheap watercolor set and her water brushes. The other was just images that made her happy. Both journals were stunning.
Lydia- Your page is gorgeous!!!! I love the lettering and the painting. I love you wrote down the colors and paint you used too. I never thought of doing that. I was looking at some of my work tonight thinking to myself "What do I use on this?" I was really inspired by your "ingredients" page.

Yeah - I always frustrate myself by accidentally finding cool color combos and never writing them down!
I love your page! Congrats on getting over that "first page" hump. You are already experiencing the freedom of journaling by making notes to yourself on the page. Way to go.
My new years page is done and I've been waiting for sunshine to take pics, beginning to think its never going to happen. Supposedly tomorrow it reappears but I'll believe it when I see it and not until.
Saw a quote in a Stampington email this morning that I just have to share, "Life doesn't get out of the way. You have to make space for what you love".
What a great new year's resolution journal page this quote would be, then again I'm thinking this would be a great canvas project for hanging across from my desk too. A kind of stop making excuses, just sit down and do it mantra. I'm thinking it would need to be done in the giant extra, extra large size, lol.
I started a little journal too in a cool format - in the squares of a calendar. Each one takes less than five minutes and will be a cool record of my year, don't you think? Today it was raining, so that was my inspiration.
Of course I didn't start until the 19th, so there's that...
I'm here for true confession.......I won't be trying a journal page until next month and I pinky swore with Lydia I would :/ so much for my credibility, but at least I'm honest
Love your page, Lydia, and first one? WOW !!! Brave AND talented (ok, we already know how talented you are...) well done!

Lydia I am crazy about your journal squares. I bought a journal like that to do a Hobonichi style journal planner thingy. When the New Year came up that went awry. I was trying to think of something to do with it. Those little squares were really inspiring me. I am going to Case your idea.
