Default MIX352 - Splat! (10/25/2019)

Challenge Title: Splat!
Hostess: dini
Keyword: MIX352
VIEW THE GALLERY FOR THIS CHALLENGE HERE

Happy Mix-Ability day! This week's challenge was inspired by projects in this blog post - so much fun!

To begin, you'll need a medium that is somewhat "liquidous", as my kids would say. This can be reinker, liquid watercolor, dye mist, dilute acrylic paint, etc. You'll also need a syringe or dropper for a good splat - if you don't have one, you can try using an air can or blow through a straw (just don't pass out on us - we need you!). Suck up some of the liquid medium in the syringe and give it a good strong squoooosh onto a piece of cardstock. Be sure your area is protected - I did mine in the garage on a sheet of cardboard. Once the background is dry, your second medium (since we're mixing them here!) will be ink - stamp an image over the splat.

Please remember to put in the correct keyword (MIX352) when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos. Then come back to this thread and paste a link to the card in your gallery so we can come ooh and ahh!

Here's mine...I feel a bit meh, but I knew it wasn't really my style. I did have fun making it, and that's more important.

Oh, and my biggest mess wasn't the splatting. It was, sigh, when a pile of stuff slid off my desk, including the petri dish I had mixed my crushed gelato in. Thankfully that particular SPLAT all landed on a plastic mat.

Thank you Dina for a fabulous challenge. I found that my paint had a mind of it's own and I was just along for the ride. I tried splatting from far away and up close. I tried with a little paint and a alot. I tried splatting up and down. It didn't seem to matter what I did, I couldn't control any of it. When I accepted that I had a lot of fun.
Here are my 2 cards:

I could not find anything decent to splodge with so dropped diluted re-inker from a bottle top onto damp mixed media paper. Here is my pink angel

Default Hello

I had fun creating today. I used Daniel Smith watercolors and added them to Mixed Media paper using an eyedropper, then used a straw to try to blow the paint around. I added more than one layer because it dried lighter than expected, and on the 2nd card, I wanted a 2nd color.

HERE is card one

HERE is card two

I did not want to waste any of the paint..... I also (finally) prepped a page in my Journaling bible with clear Gesso for the rest of the purple paint......

Thanks for a great challenge!

Shelly

Spent yesterday and today working on this. Mixed chalk pastels with glycerin to liquefy it for the splat.
