Default MIX280 - Losing My Marbles (6/8/2018)

Challenge Title: Losing My Marbles
Hostess: dini
Keyword: MIX280
VIEW THE GALLERY FOR THIS CHALLENGE HERE

Happy Mix-Ability day!
This week has been super crazy with my oldest son taking a class at the community college 45 minutes away - he doesn't have his license yet (next week, hopefully!) so I'm having to drive him and either come home for 3 hours to work or spend the morning toodling around up there. Safe to say I am losing my marbles and really not coping well with the change to my schedule.

As a nod to my fading sanity, I thought we could play with some marbling techniques - there are several tutorials you can choose from:

Nail Polish Marbling
Watercolor Marble
MISTI Marbling
Alcohol Marker Marbling
Marbled Smooch
Rolling Marble Background
Polished Stone
Shaving Cream Background

Or if you have marbling stamps you can use those too!

Remember, for your project to truly qualify as mixed media, you need to use at least 2 different types of art media. You can click HERE for a list of supplies you could choose from.

Please remember to put in the correct keyword (MIX280) when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos. Then come back to this thread and paste a link to the card in your gallery so we can all ooh and ahhh! Go forth and create!

Here's my attempt at the MISTI marbling. I love using my MISTI and trying new things with it.

I kind of blew up the gallery today. Sorry. It was the perfect storm--I had just made two kinds of marbled background papers on Thursday, DH was out of town, so I stayed up (like a teenager) and played all night. It was fun and very pink (which is not my favorite color.) I won't post all the links here. Just one of each kind.

I used the Nail Polish Marbling technique. A bit frustrating that the nail polish formed a "skin" on the water that coagulated onto the stir stick, but I kept trying and finally got a WOW.

Marbling is so much fun! I really stepped outside of my comfort zone with the colours I chose!

Dini, all your samples are just beautiful! What lovely soft coloring on some and vibrant marbling on others. Wow!

I've used a stamped Marbled bg, but made my own technique to marble it.

I marble stamped it three times in three colors: soft yellow, pear, and turquoise. I used my MISTI and shifted my watercolor paper about 1/8" each time to shift the marbled pattern placement. I blew it dry. I "painted" a layer of turquoise watercolor ink over the entire surface, filling in any white marbling with turquoise and blew it dry. I painted the entire surface with a thin layer of glitter glue and sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds glitter all over. I taped the excess glitter off and lightly wiped the surface with my finger to remove more glitter (the glue dries really fast) and then blew it dry for good measure!

My other media uses were: embossing paste, which I colored with just a light shake of Brushos and added glitter, which I stenciled on for my clouds and rain. I also colored my Crazy Bird with Copic markers. Here is my card: A Birthday with Lots of Technique!

I really was losing my marbles as the nail polish did not cooperate with being stirred or sticking to the cardstock. Here is my card.
