Squirrel MIX266 - Watch your backside!

Challenge Title: Watch Your Backside
Hostess: UnderstandBlue (Lydia Fiedler)
Keyword: MIX266

VIEW THE GALLERY FOR THIS CHALLENGE

Ready for a new Mix-Ability challenge?!! We hope you're having fun with these! Our goal is to make mixed media easy, approachable and FUN! We want to convince you that no matter what your style is - you can DO it!

This week's challenge is to watch your backside!!

And by that I mean let's have fun with the BACK of a piece of paper, using any of a number of bleed-through techniques.

I have a fun technique that I discovered accidentally while playing with the new Versafine Clair inks - I found that one of the colors separates on the back of the paper when you put alcohol on it. Check out my video for details.

There are other techniques as well, like the Copic Bleed Technique .

The important thing is that whatever technique you're using, your card either features the BACK of the paper you're working on, OR a piece of paper that is underneath the paper with your medium on it.

And remember - use two or more mediums on your finished project, and HAVE FUN!

Sounds interesting. I know I don't have that colour of Versafine Clair, so I'll just mess around and come up with something that will work for the challenge. Thanks, Lydia.

I colored a piece of vellum yesterday with alcohol inks and didn’t like the result. Looks like I’d better dig it out and see what the backside looks like! Thanks for a fun challenge.

I didn't have fancy inks to make my card. I just used crayola markers and water. It was a lot of fun to make. Check out my card

Thanks for the tutorial, Lydia. Just put that beautiful shade of blue ink on my wish list.

MIX266 Frogettable Poppies
I was planning to use the back of the paper I coloured - and may yet, but I liked the effect on the scratch paper underneath (which truly was scratch paper; we print song sheets for church occasionally and any leftovers afterwards get recycled through my desk), so that's what I used on this card.

Thanks for the challenge. I have some back pages in my journal which I may pull out and use. I don't have alcohol inks but I think my Prismacolour pens and zig give great back pages.

On another note, our poppet GS came to visit yesterday and asked if he could do something in his art journal....what an awesome page he came up with....he also had a fantastic back page. I wonder whether he would mind if I used his LOL Naughty nannie

Happy day everyone

Thanks Lydia, this was a lot of fun! I found I had to be more patient with leaving the stencil on longer to get better results. Here is my Fabulous card,
