Default MIX250 - Drunken Acrylic Reveal

Challenge Title: Drunken Acrylic Reveal
Hostess: UnderstandBlue
Keyword: MIX250
VIEW THE GALLERY FOR THIS CHALLENGE HERE

Happy Mix-Ability day!
I have been waiting so long to bring you this challenge - and now that the tutorial has been published, I can reveal it. #seewhatididthere

Remember that a "medium" can be something from your kitchen or bathroom! I use rubbing alcohol to clean all my countertops so it's always something I have on hand. I also clean my cell phone with it, my computer monitor - you name it. It's an essential substance in my house.

So today - you will be using two mediums - acrylic paint and rubbing alcohol to create your project.

This fun and addicting technique was our tutorial this week - and I've used it in classes and for my Christmas cards and I never get tired of it. I learned it from a local artist I took a workshop from - Greta Olivas.

Here is the step by step tutorial, and here is the video.

Please remember to put in the correct keyword (MIX250) when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos. Then come back to this thread and paste a link to the card in your gallery so we can all ooh and ahhh! Go forth and create!

Didn't turn out anything like your lovely examples, but I was pleased enough to continue on with a card. Thanks for posting the night before. It's appreciated.

Wow! In a weird way it reminds me of when a kid coloring with crayons and then covering it all with black crayon and scratching off the black to reveal what's underneath.

Besides covering the entire piece of CS with one color paint, I wonder about doing this in thick stripes. Maybe that's how we did the crayon reveal when a kid?

Best of all: blue fingernails. : )

Crazy day today but I will try to do this soon.

What a fun technique, I loved to play and if it's on white or black this turned out great on both

I did this yesterday following the tutorial. Can they add theirs to the technique gallery too? Would be cool to have more in there!

I didn't add the keyword since I did this yesterday for the tutorial.

This was fun to try. I definitely need more acrylic paint colors!

Bummed I didn't get the stellar results I hoped. I forgot a couple of characteristics of the brand of acrylic paint I chose - it doesn't play well with water and lighter colors tend to go transparent (not remain opaque) when layered on darker colors. I've had better luck with cheap craft paint and the better artist grade acrylic paints in mixing and opacity. So, that's what I'm using next time. Still good paints, but not for this technique.

Love the technique and will definitely give it another go. But for the results I did get, they look good for the layout I had in mind. So, I rolled with it. And here it is.

This was really an intriguing technique. I'm sure that I'll be back for it again.

Here is mine. The technique was fun, but I think my acrylic paint was too old. I did several panels different colors, and some the paint was too thin and some it was too thick. I could not get the right consistency! Thank you for another new technique! Christmas Angel

This was posted after I had left home and was away for a week, so I didn't get to try it till I thought I could work it in with the WT challenge this week.
