Do people still play card games? With the availability and popularity of online apps and games it makes me wonder. Well today we're going to make use of those playing cards that might be taking up space in your drawer.

Challenge: Use a playing card and make some mixed media art. There are many blogs and Pinterest pictures that show how to alter playing cards. If you like, you can use your altered card on a card or just choose to include it as a little gift inside of a card you're sending to a friend. Whatever you do just have fun with it. I would suggest that before starting to add different mediums to your card, coat it with gesso or tissue paper so the surface will have a bit of "tooth" for other paints, sprays, pastes, etc. to cling to.

**Extra points** Include a fish on your card!

Ack! I have none that are alterable. At least, I don't think so. I have an almost complete set of a Snow White game from Pepys that that was my mother's, and Little Grey Rabbit, also from Pepys, that was mine. Our modern set is wild birds of the world, not going to break that up. I think that's all we have. I'll have to just cut a piece of card to size...

Oh Sabrina please don’t use a card from any treasured set. I failed to mention that playing cards are the same size as ATCs so anything 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 will work. Just cut your paper that size. I won’t be personally coming to your house to check for that ace of spades underneath your creation Your poker night will not be impacted.

LOL, I was watching an Agatha Christie the other day in which a bridge game was meant to be an alibi, but a vital ace of spades was missing from the pack, so they couldn't have played the hands as shown on the score cards.

Here's a snap of my mother's antique set. Funny, we just had it out a couple of weeks ago, DH was looking at it.
