I know I am not alone when it comes to getting junk mail. I had a large amount of political ads. Do you even look at the junk mail or does it go straight to the trash or recycle bin? Why did I keep mine? Often I think we are afraid of trying new techniques, because we don't want to waste our paper. There is something freeing about trying new techniques on trash, because I guess in the back of my mind I'm thinking, "Well, if it doesn't turn out I can just throw it away. It was already junk."




I did some painting, gessoing, die cutting, embossing, texture paste. I just had fun playing with my art supplies.

That is what I want to challenge you to do. I want you to just have fun. Use that junk mail. Transform it into art. Just use more than one medium for it to count as mixed media. BONUS points if you use political junk mail like I did.

I am so there with you. I save lovely papers, interesting pictures, and good quotes from junk mail, store bought packages, tissue boxes, and more. I hope to play today, as we have 6 inches of fresh, heavy snow, with more still falling and I am not going anywhere.
