I am getting ready to reorganize my craft room and was wondering what brands of storage you have used. I know of ClosetMaid and Jetmax. Any others worth looking at?
Thanks for any input, pros, cons, you can give me. This will be a big project for me.
But one thing I do love very much because it's practical and hides the mess (for the most part ;) ) are the leather crates I have from Target on my shelves.
They come in various sizes - the skinny ones exactly hold all my envelopes and they also fit the Hodgepodge hardware tins AND tons of ribbon very neatly. The large ones hold all my cardstock. They look pretty and they're functional. I made tags for the handles to label stuff.
If you have an IKEA near you it is definitely worth checking out. All my storage is from there and it is not terribly expensive. The closest one to us is about 1 1/2 hours away so we don't go often but when we do go it is always worth it!
I actually decided to use just a standard bookshelf and then photoboxes on that for storage. Way cheaper than buying individual units and I can move things around as I need to. But this may not work for everyone.
I just purchased a Close Maid cube unit and drawers from Lowe's and I am very happy with it. It has a nice, uniform look and it wasn't as expensive as the storage systems you can get at Michael's.
Thanks for all your responses. I am still trying to decide what I want to do. I bought some of the Jetmax cubes from Michael's, and I'm not sure I really like them that much. I was actually thinking of doing the bookshelf thing like Tracy and magmoss mentioned. I will check out the Scrap 'n Cube though. If it works for the organizational goddess, it will work for me!
Oh, Patter, why did you do this to me? My wallet is going to be hurting! Scrap 'n Cube is exactly what I have been looking for! I'm going to have to start picking up extra shifts to pay for it.

Yes, it is an AMAZING storage piece!!! I have reorganized zillions of times, and this ALWAYS works perfectly not to mention it will last forever!!! Ideas for purchasing--gift cards/$$ from family for ALL occasions, buy one cube at a time, save every dollar bill you get instead of change (adds up faster), sell old crafting stuff you don't need, etc., etc., etc. It REALLY is worth saving for!!! Mine is 4 years old, and I still thinks it's the best out there.

I too have the Best Organizers, the triple bank. I absolutely LOVE this system. Everything I own is organized by item, color, size. I have labeled the outside of the drawers and I never have to search for anything. I love the divider trays inside. This is the best thing I have ever purchased.

Most of my stuff is the Elfa system from The Container Store. Lots of drawers!
That's what I use as well. They are the most durable with a great table surface. I love the drawers because you can see through them and they glide so smoothly. I never worry I'm going to tip over the drawer set like I did with some of my old plastic storage. They are not cheap but worth the price. You can customize the size of drawers, heighth and tabletop. I've just loved mine. They're actually on sale right now which only happens twice a year!
I also have a couple of sets of the Elfa drawers. One holds all of my punches (shallow drawers) and other miscellaneous tools and the other is dedicated to die cutting supplies. I like that they are table height and provide another work surface. I have 12 of the jetmax cubes from Michaels and my shelving came from K-Mart -- the shelf height is perfect for the cropper hopper paper keepers. The sets had 4 shelves; I bought a couple of extra shelves to expand mine to 5 shelves -- use that vertical height rather than valuable floor space!
Thanks for the link to the Best Organizers, Cindy. Your craft room looks awesome, and now I have another option to explore. I'm starting to get confused! LOL!
