Repurposing a DVD rack for punch storage
I'm in the process of moving my studio from my attic to the main floor of my home, and didn't want to put up a bunch of rods, so I tested out an old DVD rack and it worked! I've attached a thumbnail, but there are a couple more pics on my blog, along with some details. You can find the post HERE.

Beautiful!
What a great way to repurpose something and not spend extra money!
One of these days, I'm going to confiscate an old over the door VHS rack in our hall closet. I'm just not ready to give up all the VHS movies until my favorites are replaced. (Did I just hear someone whisper "packrat"? LOL)

Great minds think alike! I have one almost exactly like yours that I've been using for punches for several years. Works great!

Why yes, yes it does! Wish I'd have thought of it sooner (or seen yours or something)! Plus, FREE is my favorite price!

I'm pretty sure no one wants to pay the price for the linked rack, but I added this link so you'd have a clearer picture of what it looks like nekkid ( ):
Walmart.com: Wood Shed 275 CD Storage Rack: Furniture
Mine is narrower (it's designed to hold fewer, I''m sure), but has the same three-dowel system for holding everything...

Thanks so much for sharing. We are getting ready to downsize into a mother in law suite at our daughters and I'm trying to get as many ideas to compact and organize that I can. Off to your blog!

I have been using an old TAPE CASSETTE rack for about 5 years.. Yep, I said it... TAPE CASSETTE rack. So if you are keeping your eyes out at a Thrift Store, you are more likely to come up against those... snicker..
It works really well. Same principal as the DVD rack. The 3 wooden rods are little closer than on the DVD rack. HELLO, TAPE CASSETTE !! It is not as tall, but I have 25 of the large SU punches, 4 of the small SU punches, 2 martha steward punches, all on the same rack. I have room for more. My SU punches are the old style hand crank not the push down. I can double stack them like Sue has done. I thought I was a darn genius when I figured that out. Sue is right, you feel like a lightbulb went on !! I painted it up to match the other furniture in my room, hoping no one noticed that all my fabulous cassettes had hit the road.
