I have an Iris box, (its translucent plastic) and it slides under the drawers of my sewing machine table on the floor. ( not sure of its real name but its large enough to hold 12x12 paper and deep enough to stand the bottles upright into it (except the tim holtz distress ink bottles and the ctmh bottles ) those are on their sides...

then all my su reinkers (bottles are shorter) are inside an iris cart drawer under a table. (the skinny drawers like in the carts that have 6 drawers not 3)

hth,

Hey Rebecca -

All my reinkers fit on top of my spinning ink pad holders, which I think are from PortaInk, but I took the sticker off, so I'm going on memory. It's nice because they're right there with the ink pads and I don't have to dig. I don't have much space, so this helps!

Unfortunately I have the ink pad holder that is flat and I dont have the space on top of it. I did visit your blog and it is awesome. I have 5 cats of my own! I love that mouse toy. Where did you get it? (Forget the re-inkers lol)

Before I got an inkpad holder with reinker space, I used the Hot Wheels storage box. Perfect size for the bottle and will hold a lot.

I use 2 plastic shoe boxes, one for dye inks and one for pigment inks. I cut thin pieces of cardboard to go in the bottoms of the boxes because mine have ridges, and this keeps them standing upright. The distress reinkers fit in these also. Cheap solution and they're stackable too!

I keep mine in 2 clear boxes with hinged lids with handles that I found at the Dollar Store (a couple years ago). The fit 2 families each with a little wiggle room. One thing I love, that I did, was take a 1/4" circle punch and punch out one of each color (in CS) of the reinker and glue it to the top of the bottle. This way I can see the color instead of having to pull them out and see if it is the right one or not. Also it will be benificial if they end up being put in a box that isn't clear.

I keep my re-inkers in a box on one of my shelves. It isn't the best solution but it works!

I keep mine in little sterilite drawers - I had one leak once when I used to keep them in a cardboard box and it ruined some papers underneath it, so I switched to plastic drawers where any leakage is safely contained

Ha - I forgot my reinker comment.

Okay - while I love my storage, I still have to pull each bottle out to see what color it is. Anybody got a brilliant idea for marking on those teeny caps?

One of the other posters said they punched a 1/4" circle out of the color and put it on top of the bottle lids.

The toy that had the mouse that ran around the little tent thingy. I can't remember what it was called now though.

I found some trays at a LSS that hold about 30 bottles, they can't tip over and other than not being able to see the color,( I labeled the lids as a result) they are great. I can keep them on my desktop if I choose or place them in an IRIS card drawer that is deep enough( a 4 one works great). They were about $10 each. I bought two and they are basically full......cuz, when sorting them I found I had two reinkers of some current colors and three of several retired in-colors.

I punch a tiny circle of the ink color from the catalog and then attached it to the top of the reinker bottle. I can then see the color when I open the container.

This is what I was looking for but could not find it. However, I might have lost my mind trying to cut all those circles.

This is what I came up with. Thanks for all the great ideas. (I actually saw something like this that someone was storing stickles this way but stuck right on the wall. I could not bear to stick velcro to the wall in case I either hated ir or wanted to move it.)

I covered a cork board (that was in my closet) with a piece of paper and trimmed it out with ribbon. Then I measured out 3 lengths of velcro and attached it to the board. I attached a velcro dot to each bottle. I had already labeled them anyway because I am old and can't see that tiny little writing (which is how this whole thing got started in the first place). I put them in alphabetical order so now I can find them easily and have plenty of room to add new colors. (Thanks SU!) This is another one of those projects I have to thank my husband for because he is such a perfectionist!

Wow ! that's a cool way to do it visually! I like that idea too!

You can see the reinkers right there! It would be easier to replace them too.
In my case ( my eyes are goin') I think I would have to tie on a large magnifying glass along side the frame , so I could read the name on the bottle because you can't tell the color exactly by just looking at the bottom !

more chatter!

would this work for some of us? I have been thinking about this for a while. my reinkers are in a chocolate box..... one for each family (Labelled)
and one for each type....( gosh you know how hard I had to work at getting those empty boxes!)

I might change it up a bit . someone mentioned glue dotting a color on each lid for each refill. I didn't think of that!

I was going to punch out each color in a square or circle and attach it to a paper or card at the bottom of the box, write the name on it or initials so that I can return the reinker to the right place and box each time.

But the top of the reinker is what I see first. I'm wondering if I can drag or touch the lid on the top into the correct ink pad to stain the top to ID the reinker. I'll have to give it a shot.

Now I have to get bigger boxes or something. How are you gals going to organize your reinkers considering the change up. Are you going to keep the colors together by family , retired or not.....and I have separate boxes for each company or special types of inkers. It's getting complicated!

I might have to start indexing stuff soon!

I arrange mine according to color and I do the same with my pads. I inital what group/collection they come from next to the color name so if I ever had to put them in collections it will be easy enough. I will now add an R to the inital so I will know that they have been retired. When I received the entire set of pad I immediately opened them all and now there are quite a few I have never used and wish I had opened them as I used them.

That is why I had to use my labeler and label them all with the name. I also thought it would be easier for me to find what I wanted if I put them in alphabetical order. I know that doesn't follow the whole "color family" thing so I hope this works for me. If not it will be easy enough for me to switch them up and put them in families.

I bought a drawer storage system from Lowe's for under $20. It is meant for storing nuts/bolts. It has 30 small drawers and 9 large ones. The small drawers are perfect to hold a re-inker, sponge and dauber for each individual ink color. I stamp an image on cardstock and adhere to each drawer front. The larger drawers are perfect for stickles, glitter, embossing powder, etc.

I find my Tim Holtz re-inkers are so hard to figure out how to store. I'd really like something portable for them.

Karen, do you have any of the distress ink refills? ( these walmart snap boxes look cool)
(just wondering if they are tall enough to hold those upright?

I have all 48 SU reinkers in their original boxes because I wasn't able to find plastic storage for them (thanks Karen, love your storage!), but I've got about a dozen without a cardboard box.

Too bad I live 110 miles from Wal-mart! They're on my list for sure!

Having unmounted my SU sets, I use empty clamshell to store reinkers, sorted by families. I have seen ideas on here that I like. The color dot on top, stored in the snap n lock. Thanks to wonderful organizers!

I just took mine out of some plastic drawers (because I needed more room for ribbon LOL!) and put them in the boxes I buy envelopes in (250 envies). I trimmed the boxes down so that they were just a hair taller than the bottles. Each box holds about 54 bottles.

But I like the plastic snap lock boxes...I'll be checking those out next time I go to Walmart!

Those nifty snap lock boxes look like the answer for me! How many SU reinkers will they hold? I've been using 2 boxes the old color sets came in, but I've outgrown them. Plus you can't see through them and they won't contain a leak.

Are you looking for pretty or functional? I have a cloudy (as opposed to clear) shoe bag hanging on the back of my door. Each pocket contains something different. A couple of them hold reinkers. They are out of the way, won't fall off a shelf and are easy to grab.

I store mine along with corresponding sponge daubers, sponges and cartridges (if they exist) in a 24 compartment garage organizer. I can fit two colors per drawer. Works great, but it takes up some space if you've got a tiny room. However, you can find smaller versions of the same thing that might be more flexible space-wise.

You can see it in the upper right corner of this photo.

With SU changing their colors I guess I'll be spending a little time reorganizing and re-labeling!

I have a LOT of reinkers. I separated them by type of ink (chalk, dye, solvent) and store them in appropriately sized containers. My favorite is a sturdy wire mesh kitchen organizer that has two "drawers" that pull out. This is a link to the image: http://www.containerstore.com/shop/k...uctId=10010681. I can keep this on a closet shelf and either pull out and select the reinker(s) that I want to use or bring the entire drawer to my work table.

Default reinker storage

I, too, have an Iris drawer that holds by refills but I have to pull each one out to see the color. If you put a tiny label in each, how to you adhere it without knocking it off each time you go into the drawer?

I have 16 SU reinkers in that same snap-it box, and they fit fine. 15 would probably be a little better, but I didn't want to start a new box just for that one!

Also, to the poster that asked about the Tim Holtz ink refills - I have 13 and they fit fine. I have room for another one or two in my one box for those, as well.

I love that they stack, and I can fit them two deep and two tall in the cabinet space I curerntly have. I have the older chalk refills in them (remember the round chalk palettes SU used to sell?) as well as stickles. Oh, and the Adirondak alcohol inks - they all fit great!

I got my clear boxes at Walmart in the plastic storage area, I think I bought them in packs of two. They are not expensive, less than $2 per case and I've used them for a few years. We even made a long distance move and they never popped open (spilling the reinkers out) or bowed to pressure, so I'm really happy with them.

But now I am loving that foam idea! WOW!!
