I'm looking for a more efficient way to sore my ribbons. Any good ideas out there?

I have mostly SU. I keep them on the spool. They are in a low rectangular picnic basket and are arranged by color. The lid is hinged. I like to repurpose. I've done repurposing for all my storage needs.

I struggled with this for a long time. At one point I took them off the spools and put them all on paper towel rolls to save some space. But I still had trouble finding what I wanted. So one day I took my box, sat on the couch, and unspooled every single one! Now I have them all in Ziploc storage bags by color (all the reds in one, blues in another...). This has really worked out great for me! Might not for most people...but I have found it very easy to just reach down and grab the bag of yellow then decide which "Yellow" or "design" fits what I'm doing.
Depends on how many ribbons you have to store there's some cool ideas out there. Here's my ribbon storage, although the photo only shows one small bit, I have a number of those wire baskets hanging on my wall.
The Spellbinders packaging that I keep thinking I should throw away - and then can't bear to - works great for making these little boxes. I was surprised to find that the 2" boxes are big enough for almost everything I have. My SU ribbons are staying on their reels, but these work great for all the rest of it that I have. And they'll fit quite nicely in some storage satchel things that I got earlier this summer on a really good clearance sale at Michaels.
Over the years, I think I have tried almost every way to store ribbon that's out there. It has become so much easier since I have taken them off the spools. I had been using plastic bobbins from cropper hopper, but I think they have been discontinued. Recently I saw on pinterest someone using the square coasters everyone was so crazy about a few years back. Had some, tried them, worked great.
I think you can find it here: My Computer is My Canvas: Ribbon Organization
I used a rubber band instead of the binder clips.
