Default Organizing Copic Markers

I have a about 150+ copic markers. I spend so much time trying to find a color by number to make up recommended swatches/combinations. I want to organize them so that it will be easy to find. How do organize them, by color i.e., reds, blues, etc. or by the number. And how do you store them.

Your recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

I looked at dozens of ideas when deciding how to store my markers. I needed them to be in number organization so I could find combinations easily (like you), inexpensive, and easy to come buy (there are some pretty neat ideas that people have made, but that is not for me). The idea that worked best for me and my criteria was the idea that Trudee posted (Thanks for the idea Trudee!). See her picture at

trudee.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com

I did a couple of things different from her. I purchased the size 36 case, not the 72. I also tried grouping crosswise, but some of my markers were in groups of 3, others 5, so I ended up running them lengthwise in the case. Some groups start on one row and end on the next, but I know they are in order so they are still easy to find. I also organize in the same order as Copic does, except that I go backwards to keep them in the same rainbow order as all my paper, ribbons, etc. So - R, RV, V, VB, B, BG, G, YG, Y, YR, E, then grays. Hope this helps.

P.S. This is the case that Copic makes. The collections come in these cases, but they can also be purchased separately.

I use the 4 x-cube organizers (2 high by 2 wide) attached together by a metal clip. I have very little desk space and needed them within reach and something that would sort by color group. Here's a link to amazon that shows a picture of the cube

I use the clear copic cases (have the 72) but would recommend the 36 holders. I love each marker having a home. I have Ciaos mostly and it makes it very easy to see what colors go with what. My sketch (a handfull) are in a small pot on my table. They make a case that holds any marker but I can't find it in stock at Oozak.

Not an easy system to travel with but I love it. The cases have lids (they don't snap) but you can put an elastic band or two around them if you absolutely had to travel with them.

I have only 80 or so Copics. Right now, mind are in a mini craft tote with color families grouped together. It's not ideal, but I already had the little tote, so it didn't cost me anything.

You might want to take a look at this thread, paying special attention to Barbara Jay's post with the link to the Ultimate Storage case. It will hold more than 350 Copics. I'm thinking about making a similar case using the Artbin SEMI Super Satchel.

Default Organizing Copic Markers

Thank you so much Lenora4Kids - that's exactly the kind of organization and storage I was looking for. And, thanks for referring me to Trudees blog.

Thanks to all of you who responded to me request

I did the same thing with the Copic clear storage containers. This is how I did it.

I'm not into Copic type markers but I know those who do use them are always looking for storage ideas.

I stumbled across this video for marker storage in a CD storage box.

Not sure how available the box is, but using the CD storage sleeves is a clever idea that could be adapted using another CD storage unit.

I colored the blank Copic chart with each marker that I have.
I assembled the Artbin Ultimate storage box with the lighting grid to hold the markers
The markers are arranged in the box according to the color chart.

I can look at my chart and see which color(s) I want and easily get them from the box . They are also easy to return to the box in the proper order. I just follow the chart.
Here is the lasted blank color chart showing all the colors including the new 2012 colors

http://www.copicmarker.com/wp-conten...Chart_ltr1.pdf

The only downfall to my system is once a year when new colors are released I need to color a new chart. However, since they are all in the order in the box as they are on the chart is doesn't take that much time.

EDIT: I leave empty spaces ( according to the chart) for colors I do not have. This way when I buy more colors I don't need to rearrange the markers in the box . I just put them in the empty space where they belong
