I don't have any stampin up ink pads, but I store all my ink pads in a photo box stacked on their side. I use my label maker to mark each one with the color so I can quickly pull the one I need.
I have ink pad storage from organizemore.com. I think they are reasonably priced and you can get them in different colors! Check out their site, they have all kinds of organizing things, I jus twish I had more wall space!
Another suggestion that I have heard is to use the old napa valley wooden cassette tape racks. You can spray paint them any color or leave them wood tone. You can usually find these at garage sales and resale shops.

Yup, just found me one at the local Goodwill store for $2.99. I like your idea of spray painting. What type of spray pay would you use? Glossy or matte... and is there a particular brand that would work better with the wood? Sorry if im being a question box, but if you don't know is best to ask... right?

I don't have SU ink pads but I use old cassette racks the best places to find them are tag sales, good wills, church sales usually just a few dollars or less!
I use a Stampin' Things unit, and LOVE it! It is the best unit I have found. The quality is AMAZING. I just moved into a new room so I don't have a picture of how I have redone things but here are older photos you can see. I now have the two units stacked on top of each other, and this unit holds my SU pads (cubes and regular size), Tim Holtz distress inks, Adirondack inks, Colorbox inks, Memento, etc. LOVE this thing!

Thanks everyone for replying. All great ideas. Right now I'm using a cd rack that I made shelves for. It's quite large and rotates. I love it, but since my craft room is now doubling as the spare room I need something smaller. The ones at orginzemore.com are exactly what I'm looking for, but they don't ship to Canada :-(
I don't suppose you can buy them in stores too?
If not then I guess I'll have to make one. Thanks everyone for all your help.
I have two SU Color Caddies. I have all my classic pads in one. The other holds Stazon, Spectrum, craft, VeraMark, Gold and Silver and other.
I like them.

I got a 75 pad unit from SUInk.net, and they're having a sale now.
I can store my ink pad, refill and markers for each color all side-by-side, so I just grab and go.
It wasn't terribly inexpensive, but I love it and wouldn't trade it for the world...it looks nice, too. It comes in unfinished wood, and you can stain or paint it if you wish.

Reason: because it is made of unfinished W
It works great and was very inexpensive. I made it a while ago so I forget how long it took, but it was relatively easy. Just remember the saying "measure twice, cut once".

Currently mine are where my computer monitor should be on my desk, right in front of my workspace. I simply keep them in the boxes that the color families came in. I sat them up on end and folded them so that they are open so i can just grab what I want and stamp and they sit horizontally.
I am a fan of the holders from organizemore.com and plan on getting some of their stuff someday when I haven't blown my budget on actual stamp supplies:-)
I don't have them yet (still in the process of organizing my (s)crap room...but these are going to my treat to me when I am done!! I've looked and these are the right price AND have what I am looking for in ink pad storage!!
I found 3 of the wooden cassette holders at my Goodwill for $3 each. One has classic inks on it, 1 has craft... and one for future if needed. They hang on my wall right behind my work space.

I am actually doing this too, but right now I only have 16 stamp pads. I'm looking at it and thinking that if I add too many more it's going to topple over or the ink pads or going to fall forward. What do you do to keep them in the box? Do they stay? :-D

A little late to the party, but I store my ink pads in shallow plastic drawers made by Sterilite (available at Walmart and Target). I can fit 18 SU pads per 12x12 drawer: 3 across, 3 high, and 2 deep. It's not as open and pretty as a carousel or tape rack, but it's compact and dust-free. It's also great for the little dew drops, cats eyes, and spots that can get lost in a larger ink pad storage system.
I kept looking for cassette tape holders at my local Goodwill. I finally scored one! It took a few stops to go inside and look but I finally found one! Mine was $3.00 for a solid wood cassette tape storage unit. Now it holds my various brands ink pads. Love it!

Oh good idea. Mine are all thrown in a drawer and I don't even know what I have anymore. I think I have some empty photo boxes around.
To make my pads I measured out what I wanted and had the local acylic supplier cut the pieces. I glued them together and they have lasted me several years. I made 3 for the cost of about $45. The nice thing is that I made them a height I needed. It really is easy to do.
got mine off ebay from a guy in canada...LOVE it...in fact i'm about to order another one now that all these su! inks are retiring and we're getting more!!
Close to My Heart Accessories cases are nice for all my non-SU stamp pads - CTMH, Tsukineko inks (brilliance, momento), Adirondack, etc. SU stamp pads, well, I bought the color caddy and the extender. Not sure what I will be doing to accomodate the new colors since I intend to keep my old pads for the time being. If I get accumulate enough CTMH pads I will get their color caddy. I just like things to have a place and I usually am not as creative as the rest of you to come up with cost effective solutions for my space. So I just buy whatever the manufacturer sells for storage.

If you have someone handy at home (or even yourself!) these ones would be easy to knock up youself (in the words of my Dad lol) All you would need to do is make the vertical supports then add the horizontal then frame the whole thing and add a back to it. As the stamp pads are fairly light you may be able to get away with very light wood for the vertical and horizontal but would need something more sturdy for the frame.

I mainly use CTMH and have their caddy. I absolutely LOVE it. I like that it also holds the markers as well. There is a carrying case that one can purchase for it. I don't have it yet, but will be soon. I do crops and will be nice to just grab the whole caddy and go.

Will the CTMH ones hold SU stamp pads and their markers.... I was also thinking about their marker tower... will those hold the SU markers... like are they deep enough...
CTMH ink pad holder will not hold the SU stamp pads (SU ones are bigger). I'm not sure on the Marker Tower. The marker cubby is about 1/2 inch squares and 6" deep. My sketch will not fit inside (bummer) but I have heard the Copic Ciao will. Ofcourse I already started collecting the Sketch.

I store mine in an old wooden Nappa Valley cassette tape holder. Found it at a yard sale for $2 and it holds my pads perfectly and fits nicely in the book case my DH build me for my stamping toys I love the old antiqued look it has too.
I was helping the kids choir director clean out her storage shed this past weekend. What a job that was, but the good Lord rewarded me greatly. She was going to through out not one but two wooden cassett holders. I asked and she gave. What a blessing. I got home, hung it on the wall and put all of my retiring inks into it, with room to spare. It will take me awhile to fill up all of the 100 slots. Love it.
I found an old wooden Napa Valley Wooden Cassette tape storage rack at an antique store. I had to pay $8.00 and was thrilled. It works great. Will hold 100 ink pads.
I bought the PortaInk and used it for awhile. It fits the SU pads great! I since moved to CTMH and wanted theirs (like the markers stored with the inkpads). I didn't get the whole assembly, just the single one. I think the swival is two back to back.
No complaints about it except its a bit large. CTMH ink pads are a little smaller then SU.
