Keeping my "stuff" organized wouldn't be so hard if I didn't have so much of it, or insist on collecting more!! But I can't help it!
While I have a very creative mind, I cannot draw, or paint, sew or quilt...so I use stamping and scrapbooking as my creative outlet and source for fun and relaxation. I can use paper, images/stamps, embellishments, ribbons, and techniques/challenges I encounter on splitcoaststampers to express my creativity and to create my "happy place."
Unfortunately, I spend as much time shifting items around in my "office" to create space to actually work and to access all my 'goodies" as I do actually getting to create my cards or work on my scrapbooks.
A system to help me store and organize all my "goodies" in one place, with space to work, too, would be a very great blessing!
I've been checking out the other threads and see that there are many others who are in a similar predicament to mine...severely limited space, seriously obsessive collections of crafting goodies, wide variety of family and personal situations...and each of them is at least as deserving as I am. However, I really *NEED* this WORK BOX.
I recognize that good organization brings many benefits, and I manage fairly good organization in the rest of my life (my “real job”, the rest of the house) BECAUSE I have the space for “a place for everything and everything in it’s place.” This just isn’t true in my office/closet/craft room. The WORK BOX would provide that “place” for ALL my craft-related items.
Good organization brings so many advantages: it allows one to be more flexible, have more energy and enthusiasm, and allows one to feel good about their environment, rather that dreading the time and energy it takes to carve out the space to work or to find the items that they need to work on their project. Good organization, in essence, allows one to be more CREATIVE and PRODUCTIVE!!!
It also saves money…yes! If I had everything organized (as the WORK BOX would allow me to do) I wouldn’t keep buying things that I already have and just can’t locate when I need them.
Above all, having the WORK BOX would be a great boost to the health of my whole family. Being able to create in an organized space would help me relax better and more often, would set a good example for my husband and kids (both in regards to being organized and having a hobby that is creative, productive and relaxing) but most of all because it would help bring balance to the work/family/personal/creative tightwire of life we all try to walk daily.
Not to mention, when “mama’s happy, everybody’s happy” (according to my DH)!
I do have pictures post...just haven't figured out yet how to link them here. Stay tuned...
when you reply to your post, or go to "advance editor," on the second line of buttons at the top of box you type in, there's a little globe with what looks like two links of a chain {or a small pair of sunglasses... it's right next to the sunglasses with a red X through them, hehe}. copy the URL {link} for your photo, click the globe, and paste the URL in the pop up box. That'll link your photo up! Hope that helps!

My punches are the one thing in my room fairly organized...about the only thing in the room where "a place for everything, and everything in its place" applies...with the exception that i have more punches than will fit, so...hmmm...guess it doesn't really apply here either
Having a window in my work space is nice...only I usually only get to work on my cards at night, after work, housework, kids & hubby are otherwise occupied, etc., so rarely get to take advantage of the natural light.
It's not really true that rainy days and Mondays ALWAYS get me down (as expressed by the Carpenters), but it is true today. We've had cloudy, rainy (worse - drizzly!) weather all weekend and I worked my second job all weekend. I know I'm not the only one working 60-80 hrs/wk between multiple jobs, plus housework and family commitments, but MY WORD! I am tired.
I had really looked forward to playing with some of the WCMD challenges this weekend, but since I worked until 9:30 pm on Sat night and 10:30ish Sun night, the prospect of dealing with the clutter in my craft room (on top of the work-fatigue) killed the creative motivation. (Anyone crying for me yet?) Okay...I'm done whining now.
Hope all of you who got a chance to play had a lot of fun, and that you all have a wonderful week!
Daily I hit the other threads in this contest and read through the many posts and think "really, maybe she needs it more." I KNOW that's not really true, but I think I am just too anchored in "midwest nice."
I can't bring myself to be snarky and assert that I am more needy, more deserving, more DESPERATE...at least, not in someone else's thread!
Here however, I may work on taking up Readheaded Witch's tactics and shamelessly promoting myself. Or Karen Jo's campaign for the house cup...I mean...WORKBOX. Maybe I can get MY mom or grandmother or daughters to put in some heartwarming blather...umm, I mean, story...about how deserving I am. Better yet! MY HUBBY to make some plea about how my receiving the WORKBOX would the sanity of both of us, AND our marriage! :-D
step 1: I admit i am powerless over my addiction to pretty paper, terrific tools, engaging embellishments, infinite colors of inks/markers/glitter, and all things crafty-cool and that this addiction has created a big stressful mess in my life and, most especially, my home.
step 2:I believe that a power greater than myself (the talented and creative folks at The Original Scrapbox company) can restore me to sanity.
step 3: I have made the commitment to turning the organization of my sanity and my craft materials over to the WORKBOX when I win it!
step 4: I have made a searching and fearless inventory of my craft mess (at least of the items i can find) and will complete the inventory once the WORKBOX is in my house and I can put everything neatly in it's place!
step 5: I admit to you all that I have been disorganized and wasteful of both my money and creativity by letting the mess grow to such a state.
step 6: I am entirely ready for the WORKBOX to remove all these defects of character.
step 7:I HUMBLY, and most sincerely and DESPERATELY ask The Original Scrapbox folks and the WORKBOX to remove my shortcomings by giving ME, ME, ME! the WORKBOX to organize all my stuff in.
