While I was packing the other night I had on the HGTV channel (I think) and they painted a wall with magnetic paint and painted a layer of chalkboard paint over it to let you write or stick something magnetic to it. I thought I might try it when I get to my new house and finish my new craft room. But wanted to know if anyone had tried this before?
My friend did this in her hallway. She saw it on HGTV too. It looks great! Her daughters just graduated from high school and she put tons of pictures of them up with magnets and wrote in chalk Class of 2010 and stuff like that. Prior to that, everyone could write messages on it. It looks cute. She said it was as easy as just painting too.
I've only use the magnetic paint and I ordered it off line, I did a sm part of a wall in my craft room over some cabinets and then painted it the wall color.
Glad you posted this I am going to do this soon. I have the magnetic spray paint, I think it is rustoleum and not sure what the brand is of the chalkboard paint. I will have to go down and see. I just haven't decided how large I want to make the area.
This is cool! ! This has got me thinking...... the possibilities.... I wonder if you could attach a large piece of sheet metal to a wall or frame, then paint it with metal paint. I might just wander off into the heating and paint sections of the hardware store next time!
Thanks for the input ladies. We are in the process of moving and have been packing up the last 4 days with the movers taking 3 days that should have taken 1-1/2 days. With the heat yeasterday, it was unbearable. First time I've gotten to a computer in 5 days. Looking forward to actually doing this in my new "studio". Just really wondered how this worked in real life.
