I finally got my work space/craft bins cleaned out! Sheesh! There were so many paper scraps, ribbon scraps, inking marks, empty packages, and all kinds of misc things! Sometimes I feel like I can't concentrate when I let a mess carry on like that! Now I'm totally looking forward to gettin busy (some more haha) in there! Has anybosy recently cleaned out?

I've been having a giant cleanout for the last couple of months - a friend works at a school and they have been very grateful for the bags and bags of donations that have come their way. The funny thing is that all the things I "had to have" are not missed at all now that they are gone. I always work in a tidy space, so that's never and issue, but with all the things that are now gone, I have a much more useful space.
Really need to do this too. Desk is a mess. Stuff all over the floor. Sofa filled with more stuff to put away. But just put together a cube storage that I got at Target for less than $10 - 75% off! That should be incentive enough to get me started! Diane
I spent the whole week-end cleaning up and going through all of my paper and stuff. I too have a ton of scraps and bits of ribbon and stuff. I feels so good to have a clean and organized space! I put together a bag of paper and cardstock from my stash to give to a freind who is just getting stared and she was thrilled to get it.
I am constantly cleaning up my stamping room. Every time I have an event I have to get my room cleaned up and everything put back in its place or I can't create for the next class/event. It is a never-ending cycle for me.
I think I am safe in saying that I will never be able to say I have finished cleaning out anything to do with my crafting... it is an endless struggle! I swear it all multiplies when I am not looking!
I recently cleaned out some, but still have along way to go. Went to an estate sale and found a sad looking record cabinet in the basement, went back the next day (50% off) and got it for $5.00. I've sanded, primed, and now painting it and it will be a new home for my Big Kick and all my dies, can't wait to finish it! It will be nice to have all of that stuff in one place! Now if the wind would just go away for one day, I'll have it done, doing all the spray painting outside and want to get done before it gets below 50 degrees.
I am working on a total rehab of my crafting area. After my divorce and several moves I found I had no room (or desire at that point) to be creative. So I went through ALL of my stuff and kept what I was not willing to part with and gave away all of the rest (eeek! I should have Ebay'd it!). A couple of years later (as in now) I have been feeling the need to create again. SO....I am trying to unearth the unorganized mess/remnants of what I kept. I am using Iris drawers (tools, adhesives, inks), file hangers (papers, card stock), Rubbermaid clear shoe boxes (for stamps by theme), and Longaberger baskets for misc. items and to use for transport when I craft elsewhere. It's a mess, but I am working on it.

I'm working on a big clean-out. I will be making up craft "boxes" for my two nieces with my unwanted craft supplies. They will LOVE it all and I'm hoping maybe we can sit and get crafty together!!

LOL! Took me a sec to figure out why that sounded so strange... I haven't heard of records or record cabinets in ages! Oh, I'd love to have my folks' old record cabinet!

Ahem....sorry, back to your discussion...
 Oh...I guess I just dated myself, lol! Here is a picture of the finished product. First picture before, second picture after.
My stamp table is a mess because I've just been dumping stuff on it when I'm done with whatever project I'd just finished. I haven't really unpacked from my last crop (in March), and I keep buying stickers and doodads.
On the plus side, I've condensed my SU stamps down to 4 containers (there were 6 full plus overflow) and I'm going to be selling 63 sets.
I have to tell you ladies that I feel soooo much better after having read this post! It's so nice to hear that I'm not the only one My craft room has been a source of frustration for me the last year. It's been organized, then I have a couple of classes and everything gets dumped back in, etc., etc. Now I'm back to reorganizing so I can actually start working on projects IN the room and not on my dining room table. I'm also selling a bunch of stuff like Sara (above post) to make room! Thanks so much for sharing everyone!!
I have been stuggling with organizing my craft space. Every time I think that I have it figured out I find more stuff to deal with. Of course the same could be said for my house! I believe that someone once told me that if you spend all of your time cleaning and organizing, how will you ever enjoy life? Also being a single gal is a pain when it comes to heavy lifting or repairs!
I've (almost) finished a major clean out and reorg - after 2 years away due to new job and getting my son through the last 2 years of high school and the whole going to college experience, I suddenly have free time.
I didn't get rid of much (been giving my unused stuff to my coworker's daughter who is just getting into paper crafts) as much as I "reacquainted" myself with what-all I had while organizing (boy do I have a lot!) and now feel ready to move back into the crafting realm.
Best addition to my "new and improved" room - my son's Foosball table won't see much use now that he is at college, we bought a large sheet of wood and placed it over the table, giving me a very large area (49" by 55") where I can really have space to lay out stuff rather than my small table/desk where I usually create. Got it at home depo, is finished on top kind of like a countertop (can't think of what that is called) so it is smooth and i can work on it.
Cleaning out and organizing is an on-going process for me. I get new ideas after reading posts in this forum and have to try them. Some work for me and others don't. Always interested in finding ways to store my stuff and have more room to make cards. Husband says I'd get more card making done if I stopped re-organizing!!
My space is a 20 X 16 bonus room without a closet! Half is my office (I teach at the U) the other half is craft space. but it only has one fairly small window at the long end. Plus it is cafe latte color. I have bought the paint but now I have to do some major sorting before I start painting. I'm looking forward to getting out of the cave.
My daughter is a freshman away at college. It is too early to take over her room?
DO IT NOW!!!!! Mine came back but I already had a space for my stuff... now I'm ready for either him or FIL to MOVE OUT!!! I have NO craft room in the new house!!!!
My husband and I recently moved, and after hauling at least 40 boxes of crafting goods into my new room, I decided to do a major purge. I sold a bunch of my stuff at a garage sale and made about $100. The rest I donated. I finally have a lovely room that is completely organized and has nothing extraneous in it. I actually hope to have a video and pics of it on my blog soon!
When I first started paper-crafting, I was one of those people that HAD to have everything...know what I mean? I would see something and buy it just cause it was "cute" and not based on whether I would actually use it or not. Now a few years later I'm getting to the point where I'm developing my own style, finding favorite products, and purging and getting rid of all that stuff I just had to have but never used!!!
I have been busy re-organizing my space, for the past few months I have been surfing the net for any ideas that can help me with creating my space, I am almost there and have to say that it is a great feeling, just waiting for one cabinet from Ikea that is out of stock. Meanwhile I have been purging and using some of the ideas I found that would suit my style. When working on a project if I don't have time to finish it I put it in a plastic case I keep for that very purpose. I try and clean up after every project and find that if there is a designated spot for everything it simplifies my life.

Same here ....
Earlier this month I finished halloween cards, October Birthday cards, October goodie boxes for co-workers, Thanksgiving cards & all my Christmas Cards (YES!)
Sad to say - I am a horribly sloppy crafter and my workroom looked like a bomb went off in there. The cats were having a field day with all the paper scraps & ribbon bits to chew and maul. they dragged stuff all over this house this go round.
It has taken me most of this month to get it back into some semblance of organization. Just in time to start cards to November/December birthdays and make invites to the family Christmas get together!
