Question Empty Cardboard Ribbon Spools

I am looking for some empty cardboard ribbons spools. Actually, quite a few.
I need mostly those that are 5/8" in width, but will accept as large as 1" in width, and as small as 1/8" inch in width.
Honestly, I am hoping not to pay too much for either the spools themselves, or for shipping, haha. ;)
Let me know. Thanks in advance!

Default ribbon spools

Hi I have a TON (two bags full) of ribbon spools - someone from FREECYCLE was supposed to come get them but never did.

If you want them you can have them for free if you pay the shipping fee - I'll ship them as cheap as possible. Probably $5-$7 bucks?

Let me know

That would be great! I would definitely pay shipping. You can send a PayPal invoice to uppercutgoods (at) gmail (dot) com

Thank you so much!

Well, I had this "great" idea to un-spool all of the ribbon I had bought in the past, and find a "great" new way to organize them. Suffice it to say, neither the idea NOR the new organization system was very "great," so I am going back to the old way, haha!

I had a bunch of loose ribbon. A friend of mine found this great idea about using old-fashioned clip style clothes pins. I bought a couple bags at both Joann's and Michael's. They will comfortably hold about 1 yard of ribbon but I have some that have a bit more than that wrapped around them. I was pleasantly surprised too since they actually take up less space than I thought they would, my ribbon also comes off nice and tidy and I find I use more ribbon because I can sort through and find what I want.

You may also want to check with local florists, crafts stores like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's etc. and see if they would save them for you.

I don't know what anyone else makes with the empty ribbon reels/ spools but you can make Christmas ornaments out of them or turn them into little gift boxes.
Some I have used just to reqind other ribbon on instead of laying loose in drawer.
I try and recycle items whenever I can.

Catrick,
that is exactly how I store my ribbon and IT IS the easiest way I have found to keep it all neat and easy to find.

I just did this with all my ribbons too; can't believe how much room I saved. But it took me almost a week to do it, I didn't realize how much ribbon I had since it was in so many different places. This really works!

Love the idea Catrick, think I will try it out - had mine on curtain rods and found it a pain so now it is in drawers on the spools and it does take up way too much room .. thanks for sharing the pics

I also switched to Becca's solution. The only negative is that the ribbons crease and need to be ironed before use. But the space saving is worth it.

I love this Idea!! Thanks for sharing. I think I will have to do this. I have all my ribbon in old hat boxes now and its a pain to find what you are looking for.

Brilliant! I am in the processing of reorganizing since we moved and not everything will work the same in my new space. I don't have alot of ribbon, but this will save me from digging thru the 3 types of ways they are stored now.

After I get all my wooden stamps unmounted (if I ever get finished!!!) I'll do what you did, Catrick. I love it. Looks beautiful and I would really like having my ribbon be more organized.

Cathy, I converted all my ribbon using Becca's idea too. It's amazing how easy it is to select the ribbon that I want, cut it off, and replace the band. Such a wonderfully easy and clever idea. Saved me sooooo much space. Even my sweet husband said, "Those look so pretty like that." I don't think he even knew I had any ribbon before I organized it. Thanks for sharing this with everyone. I had been trying to tell people about Becca's idea in other threads, but don't know how to link to another site so I showed pictues of my own. Thanks again!
