How does everyone (who is not SU! only) store their supplies? I was a SU! Demo for 7 years and so all my SU! stuff took a front seat. Now I am a FSJ Coach but mostly for myself and a few friends. I also have CTMH and other companies from way back.
Some time ago I starting organizing by color, and it is working for me. But do you mix companies? I am slowly reorganizing my stamps by theme, regardless of who makes them. EF are mixed, and dies depend on how they are packaged. My dilemma is ink pads. Color or company? I guess my big thing is with cs & ip. Still separate, but should the be together?

I'm a demo but I store only one thing by SU only and that is current paper. Everything else is stored by type and color because I don't care who makes it. It's easier to find similar things in one place.
I used to store my pads by company but I would forget to use them. Now that the pads are in one place I use all my colors.
Non-current card stock is stored by color and size (12x12 in one place) and 8 1/2 x 11 in another, both stored in by color.
Gosh, no! I have way too much different stuff from different companies.
My storage tends to be bins and boxes and paper on the shelves. Not really very "organized" but I can usually find what I need, and that's what counts.

Evernote has helped me get organized as to what I have, but thinking I need to mix up my ink pads and papers a little. Saw where someone stored their 8.5 x 11 and 12 x 12 together in cropper hopper vertical storage and this is working for me. Also put the SU! color dsp packs there. Has helped a lot, still working on my dsp. I have a lot of ctmh paper too.

With stamps, they are most readily identifiable to me by style and company.
Cardstock - same thing. I don't have similar items from multiple companies. There is textured cardstock, a white reverse side cs, a heavier cs, and a lighter weight cs - all from different companies. It's not that it matters what company it's from, but rather the kind of cs I want to use and I know which is which. I wouldn't want to dig through all of the reds to find the right cs type, kwim?
Ink too - Memento Luxe is very different from Distress and Archival or Versafine, so I'm usually reaching for ink based on what I need it for. Again, easily identified by company.
Within those companies, I definitely sort by color from warms to cools, where applicable.
I guess it all just depends on your thought processes and the way you work. I could never sort stamps by theme - it's just how I think. Maybe it helps that I don't really have similar stamps from different companies.
You say you particularly are thinking about cs and ink sorting.... I couldn't imagine mixing them up!
Stamps by company, paper and ribbon buy color. Everything else stored by like items in drawers

I store all inks together, kind of sorted by color, card stock is divided into neutrals and colors, with color families together. DP is by theme, all tools together, bling by theme, and best of all, stamps by theme. I spent a great deal of time purging recently, and that has made me a happier and more creative card maker for sure!
I store all my Distress inks, sprays and paint together, the other ink pads are in a drawer. My paper is stored by color, card stock in one place and patterned paper in Art Bins by dominant color.
I do store all my Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous together and the same with my Prima doll stamps. All the other stamps are broken into categories, bare rubber in SU cases.
I have most stamps stored by company, but some are stored randomly in binders. Since I use Evernote, it's so easy to find the exact stamp I need quickly. My paper is stored by color, in acrylic stacking trays. I still struggle with patterened paper storage. I currently have it stored in the stacking bins by pattern or company (floral, stripe, grunge, SU, etc) , then color. Distress, SU, Momento, Hero Arts inks all by colors in "Organize More" units. My markers are also stored by company in units designed for marker storage. I purchased a large acrylic unit from Randy at Ozzak, I'm not sure if he still caries it. I'm working on inputting my embossing folders and dies in Evernote, storing them in refrigerator bins, suggested by Jennifer McGuire. All other supplies are stored by type in labeled drawers, thanks to my Original Scrapbook units.
Like all of you, it's been an ongoing process! Happy organizing.!
Nope...All Cling stamps (no matter what Co.) in one place as well as all block stamps. All paper together by color not Co. And if I had to separate all my bling, ribbon, stickers, brads, emboss folders etc by company I would go nuts trying to find what I needed. So it's all stored with "like" items together.
By company, then alphabetically (Memento regular dye separate from Memento Luxe). I get the jitters inside just thinking of mixing it up! And if I went further than thinking about it and actually stored by category or color or whatever, I'd probably break out in hives or something else equally unpleasant!
I store my stamps by theme, with the exception of current SU sets because I'm a demo. Those current SU stamps only take up one shelf out of 21, though; everything else goes by theme. For me this makes it it SO much easier to find the images I want. I don't want to have to look by company for the particular poppy stamp I want, for instance! My great stamping friend gave me the idea years ago to keep all my sentiments right next to my desk, so they are sorted by theme in a rolling cart with 4 drawers ~ that was a big time saver for me.
My cardstock is sorted in ROYGBIV order, all mixed together, although I do primarily use SU cardstock, except for white. My dsp is organized in ArtBins by theme, as that works for me better than by color.
My inks are where I can't make up my mind whether to change things or not! I have SU, Memento, Distress, Brilliance, Colorbox Chalk, Stazon, some AMuse and some Versafine and Versacolor. The SU pads don't fit in the same type of stamp pad holder as the others, and the Distress are another size again. Also, as someone above mentioned, the inks have different qualities and uses, so even though I would love to have them stored by color the way my paper is, I'm not sure it would be really practical. I keep dreaming of one of those fantastic custom made ink pad systems that will hold ALL the different sizes of ink pads I have!
Good topic ~ it's helpful to hear others' systems and the reasons behind them!

Since most of my cs is su, I probably will continue to store that, and the ink, by company. That said, I am updating my swatch collections and organizing them by color, so I will know where to go to get what I want.

I store my clear and polymer stamps by companies, other than SU, in the refrigerator bin suggested by Jennifer McGuire. My SU stamps are stored in SU DVD cases and kept in DVD plastic holders I purchased on eBay, off the top of my head I think they hold about 20 each. All of my stamps are in Evernote, making it very easy to find just what I need. This system works like a charm for me.
I store stamps by subject matter, keeping all like stamps together. That means not only breaking up by company, but breaking up sets. All sentiments are in one binder, and other binders are subdivided by categories. That way, when I go looking for, for instance, a heart stamp, all 15 of them are in the same place.

If I am on a Design Team all their products are in one area. I started to organize older stamps by theme...I find I still don't use them..I will reach for current Branded stamps that are photopolymer. I do keep more current brand stamps all together. Any people stamps for copic coloring, are all together in a box....solid paper is by color, and patterned paper is by company...but, I tend to hoard that and not use it (sigh). Sorry if this totally doesn't help. ;-\

I'm in the process of leaving SU as a demo and so I've started consolidating SU with my other products. Oh what a joy not to have to keep things separate (i.e. SU vs non-SU and current SU vs retired). I just started and I now have 2 empty cubes, one less marker holder, and 2 empty SU ink pad spaces. It's going to be wonderful to look in one place for colored cardstock & DSP only have colors that I really like.

I'm not a Demo so I've never had to keep things separated like that and it would have probably driven me nuts! LOL Your going to love the non-separation! It is so much easier to find what you need. Just my opinion, but of course I'm always right!!!:rolleyes: LOL Just kidding...couldn't help myself!;)
Patterned paper currently by pattern. I find that I look for stripes or graph or lined or polkadots more than for color. I do have a few 6x6 pads that I keep intact because of matching. That might change!
Ink...well, that's more by manufacturer. My distress are together, in ROYGBIV and my SU are together, in ROYGBIV. I don't tend to mix the types of ink in a project so that makes sense for me. I have some versamagic dew drops I'm not using so they may go bye-bye! My versamark and memento are on my desk.
Coloring media are sorted by type then by ROYGBIV. In other words I have markers separate from pencils separate from watercolor, etc, then arranged by color.
Embossing folders and dies are by style, and all embellishments from ribbon and washi to sparkles are by color.

Love it and you are right ;) I've always had a problem understanding storage systems/ideas that store the same type of product in a different place. I always say I'm lazy but it's really an efficiency issue for me. Time is so limited that I don't want to waste any time looking in different places.

I can't keep up either - every now and then I'll something I have to look up. I was never good at new languages LOL
ROYGBIV = Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet (order of colors of the rainbow)
Thanks Stamphappy....makes so much sense now....heehee and thanks for the link. Going to have to copy that and stick it on my laptop for reference so I can read some of these threads!!! LOL
Former SU Demo too.
- All SU stamps (mine are all wood mounted), are all stored by clamp shell case size. I've thought about doing it by theme or alpha, latter is my preference, by the hodge podge sizes would drive me nuts! I store all of my SU cases inside plastic Iris cart drawers that will soon be upgraded to Ikea Malfa drawers. They're currently 3 columns across and 9 sets deep per column per drawer. I have 9 drawers in total full of SU stamps. I keep my wheels (also in the shell cases), and ink refills (in the background stamp sized cases) also in there. The refills are by color family (back with SU had only 4). I can't unmount these or separate them because I guess I'm one of the rare ones that prefer wood mounted. I don't have a problem with alignment. Being a demo for so many years, I think of my SU stamps by set, and I also have everything inventoried pictorially in Evernote, so it's easy for me to find what I need.
- All non SU wood mounted stamps are stored in translucent document boxes by Mfg where I have a significant number of stamps (I usually bought them by theme or release), and where I don't, then they are organized by theme. I've attached a few pics. The spines are labeled by the contents (mfg or theme) and they are housed on an Ikea Billy bookcase. I have approx 100 of these document cases. My foam stamps are also in these cases by set as well.
- Clear acrylic stamps I separated and put into CD cases. At first I had them in a revolving CD tower, but it collects too much dust, so now they are in those Recollection cubes (from Michaels). I put them in the unit style that has 4 square drawers (2 x 2). I'm just starting my Evernote inventory of these, so I don't know how many I have. But I need 5 of those quarter long drawers. Spines are labeled with label maker MFG: Name of Set / THEME
Embossing Folders are all together also in a quarter long Recollections drawer along with all of my Sizzix Large dies.
Metal thin dies -
if they're cookie cutter - they go in the Quickutz magnetic black albums.
If they're thin solid sheets - they go in cutlry tray inside the Recollections wide 3 drawer cube style. All of my alphabets are in the latter system as well.
Embellishments Do Dads go inside clear tic tac cases (but they're really jewelry bead holders) that are housed a dozen or so inside a larger rectangular clear case. All of these also sit inside Recollections 2 drawer cube style.
Flowers go inside a large Ikea basket that takes up an entire Expedit cube.
Journalling cards go inside a half cube sized basket that goes inside Expedit cube.
Bling also goes inside half cube sized basket that fits in same Expedit cube as the Journalling cards.
All patterned paper are by mfg release lines with the exception of my very early purchases of paper styles that don't reflect me, so I put them into themes - xmas, snow/winter, valentines, and disney.
Cardstock 12x12, SU cardstock and scraps are all ROYGBV. I used the thinner CH Holders that go inside the larger ones. I have two larger ones - 4 of the thinner ones fit inside each. So I have 8 12x12 thin holders to hold my scraps in the following
red/pinks
orange/yellows
green
blue
purple
brown/metallic
black
white/beige
- Ink Pads - All my SU are together by family (again as a long time demo, it's how I think so reaching for them is easy. Plus I've adhered labels to them with numbers so it's easy to put them "in order." All my other ink pads are grouped by same mfg/type, and housed together.
I think, overall, you're going to get a lot of different responses and you'll find lots of pics of how others do it, but you really have to think about how YOU use your stash, and organize it to accomodate your needs so that it's easier for you. For example, if some magic fairy were to come and organize all my stash and 1) separate all my SU stamps into themes, all sayings together, etc 2) all my patterned paper by color.....I'd have a conniption fit and be extremely upset!! lol I'm anal retentive and just need collections properly together.
