Apparently, I'm more than a little confused on what 12 x 12 storage drawers you are referring to.
The 12x12 storage drawers are those available from Michael's. They are white and the same size as all their standard storage cubes.

The failure is that once loaded, they are very difficult to open and close. The rods the hanging folders hang on are too close to the top of the unit so they catch when sliding.

Sorry - I meant that I was going to use cloth bins inside the cube itself and remove the drawer all together and toss it.

I posted later in this thread about how I solved my 12"x 12" cardstock storage issue!

I'm with bjeans, and use JM method for stamp storage combined with Evernote for finding just the sentiment or image I'm looking for. I keep my SU stamps in their original cases, use Evernote and store them in alphabetical order to easily find just the set I need. Honestly it was one pain in theass, sorry had to use the actual slang for emphasis bypassing the filter, to do! Now that I'm one year shy of 70, I don't think I could even dream of staring the process from scratch today!!!
