Default completed card storage

As the known card maker where I work, my cards need to travel with me. So i need a better solution. I like to sort them by themes and have tried a pattern box( the lid falls of) and the iris card organizer(the dividers fall out and is not very big). Any suggestions and pics would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure how well it will actually work, but worth a look... I was at Hobby Lobby just yesterday and saw something that might be what you are looking for. It had a frosted fleixble plastic body, with cloth zipper sides and top, with same cloth as a carry handles. It had a 12 pocket expandable file system inside. It was smaller than the ones I've seen for holding paper, it looked about the right size for cards. I plan to go back for it when HL has their next sale on scrapbook storage.

My suggestion may not work any better, but the box is a more finished box and is the correct size. A pattern box is a little deep for cards that are 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.
I use an index card file box I purchased at an office supply house. It is 11 1/2 x 6 1/4 and 5 1/8" deep. I made dividers by using the one you can buy out of heavy card board used in 4 x 6 card filing systems. I just had to add about 1/4" more to each one with hot glue so that the names stood above the cards for easier reading. I have about 100 or so cards in it now. It has a lid and it is great sitting on my desk at home. If I needed to carry it somewhere I would simple slide a rubber band around it and head out. Staples does not carry them. I have only found them at Office Depot and it cost about $12.00 and came in black only. Works for me.

I have one of the SU's retired snap together storage box. It's perfect and I'm kicking myself for not getting more of them before they retired!

The new SU Holiday Mini has a new card storage box in it... Stampin‘ Card Keeper
a handy white paper-covered chipboard box to organize all your
standard-sized cards. You can personalize box by covering with your favorite Designer Series Paper and embellishments. The box comes with the lid assembled and the main box part flat packed. The flaps contain adhesive, making it very easy to assemble. Includes an easy-to-attach silver metal label holder and six dividers. It also includes a pattern you use to precisely cut the pieces of whatever material you wish to cover the box with. The box measures approx. 6" x 6-1/4" x 4-3/4". It is listed for $8.95.

I saw that box in the mini, but it's considerably smaller than their old one.

Good to know... I've have not seen the old one. Thanks for the info.

But I do have some solid sheet chipboard. Once I get my hands on one of the new boxes, and get a real good look at how it is contructed, I can design and make a larger one. I have shelves that are 18" deep, so I'm thinking about making one 18" deep. I'll put fixed dividers every few inches, to increase the structure strength and keep the card groups from falling completely over when the unit it not full. But then, I like making useful things. If I don't find something that will work well soon, I'll trying making my own.

Office Depot has some really nice 3 liter CD storage boxes that would work nicely if you made some dividers to fit inside. I like the way the handles come up and lock the lid in place. Here is a link: http://www.officedepot.com/a/product...ic-Storage-Box

The photo shows the CDs on their side, but the box fits the CD cases with their wide end going across the width and leaves enough room on top (inside the lid) to store my chunky stamp block.

Wal-Mart has CD storage boxes in with their office supplies. They have solid colors (seasonal colors.) There are 3 sections so you can sort them. The lid is flip lid but doesn't latch closed. They also look nice on the shelf.

Don't know if you have it sorted yet and notice the Office Depot link wasn't working - I think it may have been for Really Useful Boxes.

I have to say if you aren't worried about having something "pretty" then really useful boxes are wonderful, there are a variety of sizes. I have several of the 3Liter ones (they fit CD cases one way or DVD cases the other). They stack and are lightweight. The lid fits underneath up or down when you want the box open. They are slightly chunky but they live up to their name.

Another suggestion is CTMH sells a "My Acrylix Organizer" it holds 15 of their stamp sets, has a handle on top and dividers for $12.95 page 135 in the new catalog. Love mine for holding cards and carting around.
