I voted wood because I prefer those. The images are better and it is much easier to work with because you don't have to put them on blocks. They are ready to stamp. However, I have been buying clear mount because I love the storage on those and the prices are lower.
I've started buying the cling mount stamps because they are cheaper, but I prefer wood.
That said, I take mine out of their cases and store them by category in a cabinet with shallow drawers. I find the clamshell cases are a storage nightmare.

I also voted wood. I wasn't sure if you meant clear as in the clear mount that SU sells now, or as in clear acrylic stamps. I prefer rubber over clear, so I voted wood, but have been buying clear mount stamps for the space savings as well as unmounting my stamps.
I didn't vote, because I like both for different reasons. I think I like wood better, but am buying clear for the price and the storage. I haven't unmounted my wood and don't plan to.
I store my clamshells in bookshelves alphabetically, as best I can. I'm not as good with storing my clear mounted folders alphabetically. Must get a system. Plan to get organized for sure with the retired list coming out.
I also have retired sets that I just can't part with. Deep Breath!
good luck and share your findings.

I prefer wood. I do have a few of the others, and they don't take up near the room. I have a large cabinet in my stamping room, where I keep all my stamps in their original clear box. I stamped them all in a notebook, and then put a colored sticker on the end of the box, with the name of the stamp. I have this color sticker by the stamped image in my book. I have red, green, orange, yellow, etc. When I am looking for a stamp to use, I look in my book, and see what color it is. I then go to that stack, and find the one I am looking for. This works very well for me.

I love my wood. I like the way it feels. I don't want an extra step of putting rubber onto the block. I don't want extra "stuff" (blocks) cluttering up my stuff. That said, I also don't have storage issues so that's not a driving force.

Same here on all points!
My sets are stored by theme in the clamshells. I have separated some sentiment sets to make it easier to remember what I have. I also have them stamped in a binder.
I now have a nice large armoire to store my 100+ sets.
I've been buying clear mount because of the savings.

I chose wood too, except I'm in a living night mare trying to work out how I can store them better. In saying that, the last few sets I bought were the cling ones. I had a hell of a time with build a monster this weekend, not clinging.
I prefer wood, have just decided I am going to take sentiments from sets and put them all together, I have a photo copy of each set in the bottom of the clamshell case so should they ever need to sell my stuff the sentiments can be put back in, But I am tired of having all the sentiments and not having them together so I can easily pick what I want to use. I know this way they will all get used alot more. I store most of my sets on white bookcases all of which I have picked up second hand. Some of the rubber cling stamps just dont DO that and it is frustrating to try to stamp and the cling comes loose. I love the feel of the wooden block in my hand that is what I started stamping with in 1981..........so I'm keepin.......... keepin on with my WOOD.
Prefer wood mounted and love the clamshell (SU!) storage system. I'd like to wood mount some of my most used unmounteds and create my own 'sets' to store in clamshells. I'm better at remembering stamp set names and the images in them with the SU! system, so I'd like to do something similar with other brands.
I like both for different reasons. I like wood because it's easy to grab a stamp, use it, clean it, and put it away. BUT I like clear because I can see where I'm stamping and the storage isn't as much of an issue.
I prefer unmounted or clear sets that come with a "ready made" storage solution like PTI, A Muse Stuido, or SU! I always struggle with the best way to store the $1 clear sets or sets from Inkadinkado, etc.
I unmounted all of the wood mounts a few years ago, and put them all on EZ Mount foam and stored in CD cases. So now, when I buy SU! stamps, I buy the clear mount. I don't have room in my storage plans for wood mounted stamps any more. It took a little while to get comfortable with the stamps unmounted, but I definitely prefer it now.

Ditto - It has taken some getting used to, but I now definitely prefer unmounted rubber to wood for a number of reasons. The storage is an issue for me, but I also love not having to worry about getting ink on the wood!
I personally prefer the clear mount stamps, especially for two step stamping as it allows me to ensure I'm lined up properly. I also like it for stamping sentiments to make sure they're straight. I rarely stamped directly onto my card or pattern paper before the clear mount stamps becuase I was afraid it be just a bit off alignment and that frustrates me. I love the new cases for the clear mount stamps as well as I can see the image on the side.
I didn't vote. I really like both. I got a clear, plastic box like the kind for storing hair items at Walmart. I cling my clears to the inside of the top and put my woods in the box. I always keep a stamp pad or two in the box along with a clear block for stamping. It seems to work very well.

I've read lots of posts that state the SU cling sets won't stick with the sticker on them. I haven't placed the sticker on my clear mounts and they cling super. It's too bad SU can't remedy this!

I love wood mounted red rubber but I'm running out of room. Lately I've been buying red rubber cling mount stamps. I just think the red rubber stamps better than the clear stamps. I do have lots of clear stamps and I store those in clear CD cases.

My SU! rep suggested applying Tombow adhesive (available from SU!) to the backside and allowing it to dry. It's clear, and when it dries, it's tacky. Works GREAT without the muss and fuss of another brand of meant-to-be-tacky adhesive I started with when I took all my stamps off their wood blocks.
I store my wood sets in the cases they come in on their sides in bookshelves. I also p-touch the case for easy identification. I try my best to organize them by sayings, flowers (I have almost every SU flower set) seasonal, backgrounds and favorites that I will never get rid off. I found by storing them on the side there wasn't as much pressure on the rubber.

The only wood-mount I've unmounted are the two-step. That makes sense to me. Otherwise, mine are staying on the wood. I do buy clear mount from SU when available because of the savings.

I prefer wood mount stamps. The idea of having to assemble the stamp to use it seems like a pain. I like to just pick up my stamp and use it. Plus I don't have to worry about the stamp falling off of the acrylic block. If I am concerned about the placement of an image I just use my stamp-a-ma-jig.
There should be a third option. I really like both kinds, especially since I learned that once I sanded down my clear stamps they worked a million times better. I rather like cling stamps because they have the rubber. For me wood mounted is about quality in a sense. I like having REAL wood items. My desk and bed are wood as is my dresser. I just feel that things like that will last longer, plus for some of the background stamps it is much easier to deal with wood mounting. I keep all of my wood mounted stamps in drawers and they actually take up less space now than my mini binders of clear and cling stamps...sort of. The drawers are already in my sets of drawers, whereas I had to clear off part of my desk to put the containers for my clear stamps. I do like how they are organized now though. I'm just really torn.
I store my wood stamps in their clamshell. When I am putting them onto the wood, I cut a piece of paper that is the same size as the the bottom of the box plus one inch on the end. I place this in the bottom of the box and then stamp each image on the white paper. This helps me in case my stamps get separated I can remember where it goes. I also take the stamp set name sticker off the sticker sheet and place it across the end of the clamshell. Since I had the extra 1" coming up the front edge, it makes it easy to see the name of the set as they are all lined up in by cupboard!
I prefer the clear mount SU! stamps to wood mount for cost savings and storage space. I spray the label with Krylon's Easy Tack spray (like post it note in a can) and it works like a dream for me. I've unmounted all my SU! wood sets and store them in the clear storage cases that SU! sells.
I don't like clear polymer stamps at all, because I don't want to invest in different types of ink to get the best result with the polymer stamps. Of course when I started trying out the polymer stamps I purchased those from Archiver's or Michael's and I just didn't like using them.
Now I just have to find a way to print pretty Storage Case Labels without using MDS. My printer stinks so I won't invest in MDS until I am able to buy a new printer that prints true color on SU! cardstock.
I prefer the SU clear stamp, I have unmounted all my retired wood stamps, put them in DVD cases (since they were free and work just as good as the SU ones)! Like the storage and I get the same image either way.
I too like the way Stampin Up is doing theirs now. I do not like the clear stamps and I have tried several different times and the image is not near as good as with rubber stamps. I pick wood also by the way!!

I definetly prefer wood! I have a pretty significant hand tremor (due to meds) and the wood mounted stamps give me a little more stability and are a lot more forgiving when I shake. It seems like the cling mounts require a more gingerly kind of touch and I think it is very annoying that when you're trying to scrub on your Stampin' Scrub, they come off the acrylic block. Also, I'm a person who just resists change...I like things to stay the same the way they have always been since the beginning of time and I'm usually the last person to jump on board something faddish. No need to reinvent the wheel here.;)
Definitely prefer clear mount.. can't stand wood AT ALL. I unmounted all of my wood a few years ago and never looked back. I'd rather take the extra step of putting a stamp on a clear block than to have to go through the process of a stamp a majig to get perfect alignment, and I love the space savings. I store all my sets in CD cases, and they look great in the CD storage bins I have. I have even unmounted my wheels, and have even cut them apart to get more "stamps" from them. I find I use them a lot, whereas before I couldn't wheel straight to save my life.
