SU dvd storage

Hi all! Hoping you can give me some ideas!! I have all my stamps stored in the SU dvd cases, about 100 in all if not more! I currently have them stored in large bins from Target but looking for something else, not really liking that anymore! I have the closet maid wire shelving that would house whatever ideas you may have!

I appreciate any and all ideas you can share with me!

TIA,
Connie

Can you put something on the wire shelving that closes up the spaces and just shelve the cases like books?

I have this solid shelf liner on my wire shelving where I keep my sweaters:
Duck Non-adhesive Solid Grip Shelf Liner, White: Sealants, Fillers & Adhesives : Walmart.com
I also have it in my kitchen cabinets and drawers.

Or you could get a piece of 1/8 inch masonite from home depot to put on the shelves.

Or foam core or cardboard...

Back when I was using those cases I just had them on a DVD rack. I considered getting this: Mainstays Multimedia Storage Tower - Walmart.com

I bought a DVD shelf/bookcase that looks like this (I have the darker one): http://www.imagesfeed.com/images/Ebay/ma960.jpg

What I like about this is that it's made for DVDs so it has thinner shelves than normal bookshelves..so that it doesn't protrude out far from the wall. Also, the shelves themselves are adjustable. I have about 300 sets in DVD cases that fit on it.

My friend used a couple of these towers (in white) from IKEA...they look fabulous in her awesome (HUGE) stamp room.

It says it holds 88 DVDs.

Thanks bunches for the suggestions my fellow stamper friends! Unfortunately I have to use my wire shelving. The shelving is on one wall, next to that is my 6ft work bench and the other wall is a big bookcase that holds my paper, die cutting machines, etc. The other side is 2 windows!

Looks like I will see what I can come up with to put on the shelving. Then how to store them, right side up, on the side, etc. Will need some type of divider for my categories!! Always something!!

Thanks again I appreciate the suggestions!

Here's a blog post on wire shelf liner.

Here's one where they took foam board and covered it up with pretty paper:

Not sure that I like this idea, but you could get boxes to store the DVDs by theme:

I wonder if you can find PVC at Home Depot or Lowes:

Hi Connie-
I have a lot of closetmaid in my closets but cant think how I could use them for the DVD cases. I get these DVD racks (they are supposed to stand on the floor) at Goodwill for under $5 and then my DH cuts the base off and mounts them on the wall. This is the first one.... I have three now. Each hold 43 cases.

Brenda, thanks so much for those links, I wouldn't have thought of those ideas! I think I will try the foam core and wrap it in shelf liner! Would like to use the shelf liner (contact paper) alone but think I need something more heavier! Will look into that this week-end!

@ Westiemom, your storage system is great! Wish I had the wall space! Holds so many too!

Thanks again to the both of you for your time & tips!

;)

Reading the other responses made me think of another idea: You could get the photo boxes, leave the lids off, and put them on end on the wire shelf. Use one box per category or multiple boxes if you have a lot of stamps in that category. That way you wouldn't have to add anything to the shelves, and you'd have built-in dividers!

I did have that at sometime, trouble was I had to many photo boxes!! I think that I may just cover the shelves and go from there. I would be able to fit alot that way. Now though not sure if I leave them right side up or store them on the side! Also will have to think about how dividers will work!

As always, thanks for your input everyone! I definitely appreciate it and your time in responding.
