Hi All Going to my first SU retreat this weekend,I am sooo excited, already I can"t sleep at night.I have baggies with picture of card,,CS and DSP,embossing folders, and bling, extra stamp sets,All ready to go almost just not sure how to ID all my embosing folders(sharpie?)Any Ideas Thanks
I labeled all mine with a Sharpie so I could keep them in alphabetical order. Do it a few days ahead of time so the marker can cure. Some of mine seemed to rub off even though it is supposed to be permanent ink. And if you use them for embossing your envelopes, make sure the part not being embossed goes under the outside of the side without the Sharpie on it. I had some ink from the Sharpie transfer to an envelope when I wasn't watching this. Hope this helps :-)

I put my name on just about everything I take to stamping events with a Sharpie.
I wish I had thought to put the names of the EF on them when I put my name on them. Now I want to go back and do that. Sometimes when I'm writing a recipe for a card that I made I can't remember the actual name of the folder I've used so then I have to look it up in the catalog.

That's part of the reason I did it too. The only one I know the name of for sure is my Divine Swirls LOL! I also needed to be able to make a list so I'd know which ones I had and didn't have when shopping.

leslie i keep my notebook w/ me @ all times. i have my twinking h2o's,nesties,copics,distressed inks, etc all in there. on the top of each page i list what i need/want. like right now i'm in need of real orange & true yellow in h2o's.
as for putting my name on my items-i use blue painters tape. everyone in my huge group knows"if you see blue it's gayla's". i started doing this w/ my paint brushes, when i took classes. works great
I used a P-Touch machine and labeled ALL my embossing folders....I also made a sample of each (highlighting the raised surface with ink) and put them on a ring so I can easily see which EF I want to use. (I have MANY...of course, not all SU, but the SU ones I keep at the front of the ring....)
I made little tiny labels that say "Property of Janet Davis". One of my scrap buddies walked over and put a punch that she had borrowed on my table and said. If you hadn't labeled this I would not have known who to return it to.
this is what my tole painting teacher does. cheap & bright color
That's how it all started with me so many moons ago .... having my initials on my bottles of paints so people wouldn't walk off with them in classes. I never labeled tiny things like brushes though as I would never lend my expensive brushes out to anyone.
This brings back a lot of good memories and thoughts of lots of money spent. I started tole painting before I had kids and could afford to buy supplies and had time to take classes. I must have over $5,000 worth of tole painting supplies from my years of painting and I don't even want to think about what I paid for classes and project fees. I still paint from time to time but the card making bug is stronger these days!

same here leslie. myDH wants me to start painting again. as like you i have 100's of bottles of paints & brushes. hate to think of the cost of my brushes. like anything else it pays to have the best of supplies- i know i paid a lot per brush. once i knew the difference between crafters brushes & artist's brushes!
i also have bins & bins of pre cut wooden items-waiting to be painted. and let's NOT forget the cost of all those pattern books!
