Every time I go to an auction, thrift store, antique store, flea market or garage sale all I ever find is junk OR If I see something that is worth something... the people selling it know that too and I can't afford it :(
The place I go to is hit or miss but I can usually find something pretty awesome for cheap. I picked up a gorgeous mahogany table where both sides drop down for $10. It only needed the little arm things that hold up the sides which I'll get when I get around to it. I think it's in my craft cave photos between the two easy chairs (behind the pole). I have great plans for that table but I haven't done anything with it yet. LOL
When you type a person's name in the search box, and you get a "results" page...the first line says something like Pins...Boards...People. You have to click on People if you want to find a person.
Diane...THANK YOU!! Who knew there would be 4 of me....I don't think the world can handle that?!! LOL I figured my name was unusual enough that there would just be mine...thanks for pointing that out and I appreciate it!
I want to try to get the pics posted here so no one has to leave this site but just cant seem to get my act together. I have been making wine woolies all weekend and didnt get the pics uploaded here. The best laid plans, ya know?!
And to the poster who got an Ethan Allen cabinet for $30?! Steal of the century!! Lucky girl!
Here are some pictures of my new stamping space. We have not moved in yet. Hopefully we will have our Certificate of Occupancy this week. I'll update my blog and this thread when I've moved in all of my goodies. Thanks for sharing all of your pics. The organizational ideas have been so helpful.
My wonderful husband just redid my crafting space and did an amazing job with my gentle guidance of course... ;) If I would have thought ahead I should have taken a "before" pic of all the piles and very limited space. He installed many shelves, gutters, desk/counter space, punch rack, etc. Check out the pics. I'm LOVIN' my new space and my husband is kinda liking the perks from his handy work ;)

Here is my newly formed craft room/"office"... We just finished our basement and are setting up my craft area. You'll see two cabinets that will soon have countertop on them. I have my craft desk and some recess lighting as well as a table so the kids can work on their "crafts" too! I'll keep you updated as I finish everything.

My kids are crafters too
I am redoing my space and still trying to figure out how to keep things away from little fingers if you know what I mean?
I like everything out where I can see it but my oldest (who is 6) always wants to get into everything.
Don't get me wrong I let her do a lot but some things are just too expensive and she isn't ready for them yet.
Your hubby did a great job! It is a great room. You look so organized! I love your large window and the light it must let it...also the stained glass one is so pretty.
Jaima: I don't have kids, but my nephews and nieces stamp with me all the time..From out of nowwhere, the 5 year old got ahold of ADIRONDACK COLOR WASH in dark blue and was spraying it with my back turned...Lets just say, I have to like blue until I can get my new room setup.. My table is currently plywood painted white (now with lovely sprays of blue). So funny.
Everyones stamping places are wonderful. I would love to have a bigger room but then I would buy more things! I posted pics of mine in my gallery. I'm having a hard time attaching them to this post.
I LOVE this forum!! I really love seeing how everyone designs their own personal spaces. I have found a lot of inspiration here. I decided around Christmas to completely renovate/remodel my craft room. I moved just about everything out, and signed up for an online craft room organization course. While originally, I was just planning to take everything out, repair the ice damage to the closet and part of the ceiling, I was so inspired by everyone's creativity, that I decided, "What the heck? I might as well go for it!" So we took everything out, repaired the damage, and are now in the process of completely renovating the room. We are replacing the window, installing a lovely oak wood floor, and of course, painting. I picked out the colors yesterday and bought the paint. I saw that someone had done their room in SU colors, Certainly Celery, I think. While I would absolutely LOVE to have a green craft room, because green is my favorite and most relaxing color, I already have too many green rooms. Instead, I picked Lemon Chiffon, which is a very pale yellow, and Liquid Blue, which is a pale blue. The yellow is for the walls, and the blue is an enamel for the trim. Using suggestions for storage that I found in this forum, I purchased 3 storage pieces from "Organize More". I am hoping to be all moved into my new room by Memorial day weekend. I miss having my sanctuary and creative space. But, I am enjoying creating a new, and hopefully beautiful work space. Thank you all for your inspiration!!

Please share pictures when you are done, it sounds wonderful!!
Right now all I have is a corner of my bedroom for crafting. This is how I have my corner, for now. I got the shelf from a friend, and the totes and bins are from Dollar Tree. The stand that my clear stamps are in, is a DVD stand from Kmart.
My paper and stamps are in a stand that is to the left of my table. Now pictures right now...it's a mess. ;)
Going to work on getting garage cleaned out, and turn that into a stamp space. Definitely want a place where I can hold classes and workshops.

Thanks so much for sharing a picture Your very organized in a small space and I love how you used inexpensive storage options. Good luck with the garage and show us pictures when you are done!
I posted these in my gallery today before I found this thread! My husband made all of the shelving for me. I covered the walls with crinkled brown paper bags and painted over it to make it look like old plaster. If you can see your supplies, you will use your supplies!
Have a wonderful long weekend!
Karen C.
I was blown away by you new room. Your husband is talented to make all those shelves. I love that you can see your stuff... Hope you have time this holiday weekend to stamp in there!!

Rachel, WOW! I love your crafting space!! I'm jealous I would love to know what color you painted your walls. It looks so soothing to craft and create in
Amanda - Thanks for your kind words! The color is waterscape by sherwin williams. It looks great in natural light or at night when all of my lights are on. Have a blessed day!
All of the great info, pictures and ideas from this site is driving me CRAZY! I am in the midst of planning my craft room remodel. I see all kinds of wonderful ideas for storage of this and storage for that but I happen to be out in the middle of nowhere North Dakota and am getting SO FRUSTRATED because either the poster doesn't reveal where they purchased what OR the type of store they purchased items from is 4 hours away form me! Like Michaels...........there is only one in ND......Fargo, and Fargo is 4 hours away from me. I really like the jetmax cubes but I can't seem to find them anywhere that I can order online and have them shipped.
Sorry for pulling you into my Pitty Party....LOL> I had decided to buy a scrapbox but because of my space, it just won't work the way I want it to.
Any suggestions?

Dakota Rosie, have you tried Craig's List? Do you have a Home Depot in your town? Maybe they have a few damaged cabinets or some they are selling on clearance, that you could buy cheaply? Can your husband build a "built in" look in your room with lumber?
What kind of look or what are you trying to achieve in your new space? How much space do you have to work with?
rosie-try target online. they have something similar to the jet boxes.
also overstock.com ----cheapest shipping out there. less than $3 pre order. no matter what you order.
also i have good luck with of all things ritzcamera.com
as for the room. best advice think long & hard how you what to group & store yor items. this will save you money (in changing your mind). and headaches from not liking your first choice
Thanks Ladies! There WAS a Home Depot in Bismarck, (just an hour away)it was open about a year and then closed up.
I have a room about 10x11 with a closet. I actually would like to present all my stamps, ink, etc, etc as part of the decor of the room. Right now I have a gazillion wood stamps/paper/etc in a huge 12 drawer flat file. Thought that was the answer but it is just TOO big and has to go. I am thinking along the lines of building and entire wall of shallow shelving for all my individual wood mounted stamps and then a wall of peg board. My main concern right now is how to store my paper, and I am a paper fanatic..............

I was going to suggest a wall of stamps on shallow shelves too Here is a great idea to decorate those shelves for stamps or ribbon: Ribbon Storage. That would really dress it up.
Could you make the closet into a paper unit? My thoughts are adding some plywood shelving on a downward angle with a piece of trim at the bottom to stop the paper from sliding off, running the length of the closet. Or build in a ton of straight on shelving for your paper, in the closet. Then hang two curtains on a curtain rod in front to close it off when desired. Would that work, or do you have a different idea in mind for the closet?

Try Ebay. There are a lot of the paper storage racks that stores use to sell their paper like these two:

i don't know how to load photos-hope others will do so
1. ribbon i have seen ribbon stored in rain gutters. i store mine in drawers. if the ribbon is opened than i wrap it onto a 4x4 coaster. love the system
2. shallow shelves for single large stamps great idea. my friend uses cutlery cubbies. she buys wooden ones @ walmart
3. my 12x12 paper/CS is stored in 2 (2) drawer filing cabinets. i got mine from oriental trading about 3 years ago. i've had no issues with them.
4. my embellishments are stored in jet max drawers. i but all red eyelets in mini zip loc bags. jewerly section of big box stores. i have a drawer for plain eyelets. drawer to the right is "shaped" eyelets. same w/ brads. button are plain & shaped also.
5. reinkes,glitters each have a drawer
6. i found dressers @ IKEA about 80 bucks each. 1 drawer big shot dies. 1 embossing folders. another tins to be altered
hope these help
Thanks Amanda and Stacey! I should break down and buy something like the racks you pointed out Stacey, but I guess I am being cheap, that much money for those seems insane but it might be the answer. Putting my paper in the closet is a posibility but I think I would be happier having it closer to my table. Plus, I don't want to put my precious paper that close to the floor............was thinking of keeping it not much lower than table top height.
I know if I do the ribbon storage just right it will add quite the splash of color and texture to my room. Was thinking of putting quite a bit of it in raingutter on my pegboard.
Maybe at this point I should probably start sorting and cleaning out my room ( I plan to have a craft rummage sale in August) Then things might gel a bit better without looking at my current filled to the brim room!
