Default Retired Catalogs

Do any of you keep any of your old SU! catalogs. I'm a demo but I don't really have many classes or customers. I have kept most of the catalogs that I have gotten in the past years, but they just take up room and I can't think of a reason why I should keep them or want to keep them. I don't refer to them although they do have good ideas and projects in them. If I'm looking for an idea to use a stamp set with I go to the gallery here or at the SU site. So I thought I'd ask if there was a reason in case I was missing something.

Heart retired catalog suggestion

what I done.. was CUT out my Favorite ones and magazine them in those clear pouches to save for some inspiration when I have those "I dont know what I wanna make" days.. the fit them perfectly and can be put in a 3 ring binder for easy storage! .. Just my 2cents ..lol

I do keep them...just one of each...when I go to sell a retired set, I have referred to them to find out the year and the price. Or if i buy or can't identify a set i use it...
There are good layouts in there and I have looked back for ideas.
But it does show how tastes and styles have changed sometimes when you look at them

I have one of each, and refer to them often actually.
What you don't want, someone will. Sell them on eBay or list them here on BST.

Man I thought you would all tell me to just get rid of them. I never refer back to them, although I can see why some would (for the later catalogs at least). Maybe I will leaf through them and see if I find anything to case before I make the decision to get rid of them. Keeping info on the sets I have is a good idea too, in case I want to get rid of the set at some point. I just need room and am trying to get rid of things (anything) in my house that takes up room. I have too much stuff! thanks for your ideas though.

Well to be honest, what i did was look through all the catalogs and write on the side of the SU clamshell, what year and catalog it was from and the price...so when i do go to sell, i just have to pick up the clamshell! So maybe, I could toss them!
My customers do like to look through them when they are over and looking for inspiration, so i guess i will keep them

I will!!! I kept my old ones for a while, and when I last flipped through them, some ideas seemed so dated. I get most of my inspiration HERE on SCS, even for old sets. I thought of maybe trying to list them for sale, wasn't really worth the hassle for me. Our county recently started RECYCLEBANK, where you earn points for paper and cardboard recycling, so in the tote they went. I don't miss them at all. If you're ready, GO FOR IT!

Yep, I've decided to leaf on through them and then get rid of them. I'll keep a years maybe but no more than that - and if I find projects I like I'll tear them out - but if I don't do it in a few months its garbage. I just save too much stuff and I can really use the room on that bookshelf. I will look into the recycling projects - I know some of our schools were looking for glossy paper - I'm not sure this meets that definition but I'll see. Thanks for all of your ideas everyone!

I've kept mine...don't really refer back to them for inspiration. I've never used the catty for that. I like to come here to SCS for inspiration.

I at times tho, thumb through for old times sake. It brings back memories of who was my demo at that time, why I fell in love with stamping, etc. It's fun to see the old sets and it inspires me to dust off the ones I have and use them.

I am not a demo, but I do keep my old SU catalogs. They have such cute cards & projects that I often refer to for ideas on my cards from time to time. I probably don't have as many as you do so I haven't had a problem storing them as of yet.

I do like to have one of each for references of set names, pricing, colors, etc. They are tucked within a bookcase in my stamping zone. Purging isn't a strength of mine, but even if it were, I think I'd still want the references. lol

Another idea you could do is download the PDF format of the catalog and save them on a CD. Then if you decide to toss the old SU catalogs, you'll still be able to refer back to them for ideas, prices, etc.

I may try this. I have quite a few and they are just taking up space!
