This thread is for chatting about how we can utilize our stampy/scrappy boards on Pinterest to save us more time so we can continue to spend that time here on SCS!!

FAQs

1.Click Pinterest at top of screen:
Pinboards You Follow | Most Discussed | Everything | Gifts

1A. When you click Pinterest at top of your screen, you will see the menu above. Your default is "Pinboards You Follow". That means, if you follow anyone else's boards, their new pinned items will show up. If you follow ALL of another person's board's ALL of their new items will show up. (more on this in another post)

1B.Most discussed: This will show items that have recent comments under them. They are not necessarily from people or boards you follow.

1C. Everything: This will show all the newest pinned items no matter who pinned them, no matter what subject.

1D. Gifts: will show marketplace items (I'm not sure how this works)

2. Tags: When you "repin" someone's photo, you will see Tags down at the bottom of the box. Click on tags and you can type to create tags...but you need to type a comma for it to actually tag. i.e., stamping,

3. Search: Type in anything and "stuff" will show up...any and every pin that has that word in the title or description. Two words will render things you may NOT want...try it, you will get the hang of it. (more in another post)

4. Catergorize: It is VERY important to catergorize your board. There are a list of catergories for you to choose from. Stamping, scrapping, crafting seem to be under DIY.

Follow All: You can follow someone or you can follow specific boards: Just the boards someone else has that you are interested in. (More on this in another post)

When pinning, pin the permalink if at all possible, not the main web site. Why? Because Pinterest links you back to where you found the item. If you link the main web site, then try to find the item months later, it will be really tough. If you link the permalink instead, the link on Pinterest will take you right there.

How do you find the permalink? If you're on a blog, for instance, click on the title of the post. You'll see the URL change from something like:

http: //coolblog.blogspot.com

to something like this:

http: //coolblog.blogspot.com/really_neat_article.html

Now do your pinning from here, and the link will be stored properly on Pinterest.

On some other sites, like Tumblr, the photos don't have article titles, but the permalink is still there. Sometimes it's a little infinity symbol next to the photo; sometimes it's a link below the photo. Just hover your cursor over things near the photo and see what they link to. Once you find the permalink, click on it and then pin from there.

Thank you! If you don't bookmark the right thing, it won't be any help to you later when you're looking for details. Or if someone else likes your pin and wants to find out more. It also encourages folks to find out more about the original artist/photographer/crafter.
