Default Peg Board Accessories

I'm wanting to put up a pegboard, but some of the premade bins, shelves and round containers can start to add up at the register. I saw these cute containers made from recycled cans. Any suggestions on what I can recycle to make into bins and shelving for it?

The cans look like veggie cans...altered. Maybe you could try that. Wash them and dry them really well...and file the inside so you wont' get cut. Alter and waa laaa...pretty containers. I too love this idea...

My thoughts on hanging those cans would be to get the pegboard hooks and put the cans on them through a hole that is punched or poked in the side. Is this a job for the CropADile?

Another thought for shelves would be to get the long pegboard hooks and put a shelf made of plexiglass across several of them.

How about some old metal bread loaf pans from the Thrift Store. Spray paint them and put a hole on each end to hang up---you could store some of your bigger things in there--stamp cleaner spray or paints, etc.

Great idea about the bread loaf pans. It would never have occured to me. I'll have to make a stop at the dollar store after work tomorrow. It's a little cold to be spray painting the pans, but I picked up some really pretty black and white flocked wrapping paper at Target today that will do the trick.
I was wondering how they hung the cans. It never struck me use my cropadile to punch a hole in the can so I could hang it from a hook. Lol. Thanks ladies.
Would love to hear more ideas!

Here's a link to my craftroom pics and how I did mine. I LOVE my pegboard. I do have some of the purchased baskets and hooks along with the papertowel holder and pen holders that attach to the pegboard. But, they were really cheap at Home Depot. Some of it I even got on sale. But, I agree with the above poster as far as the cans go. You can use your crop-a-dile to punch a hole in the back of the can and then hang them from peg hooks. You can get a bag of assorted hooks at Home Depot. I think I got some stuff too at Walmart as well as Lowes. If you'll notice in one of the photos, I have a inexpensive rubbermaid white plastic drawer that I purchased at Publix...believe it or not. For about $2.89? and I put 2 long hooks equal length apart and then rested it on top of the hooks. Very sturdy! works like a charm! Good luck!! I LOVE my pegboard!!!

one thing I have found with baskets and such made for peg board is that they may not fit the peg board you have. I have some very cute baskets that I got for free to use on my peg board and they already have the hooks attached, guess that the hooks are in the wrong spot. One hook will go into a peg but then the other doesn't quite reach the hole that the hook needs to go into to. UGH. But I still love having peg board in my craft room

I used some narrow white baskets (3 for $1) found in the storage isle at walmart, and used bread ties to attach it to my pegboard. Then I bought my stickle storage for $2.50 each.

Great idea on those white baskets. I've got a set of 4 red colored ones that I can hang on mine. Those would be perfect for holding stickles and embossing powders. I saw some bigger black ones at the dollar spot in Target this weekend. I hope they still have some this next weekend. There weren't too many of them left. I prefer black or red over white.

I use the narrow white baskets from Walmart described just below your post and hang them on regular peg board hooks. That makes them angle and you can't fill them to the brim but I just use them for SU markers(I only have about 6) and spica pens so it doesn't matter. I find lots of cook hooks at Home Depot and also bins and things that are made to fit pegboard. My pegboard is full of hanging things with lots of hooks.

I've got those narrow 3/$1 baskets hanging on my pegboard with punches in them - they don't hold the big ones but are great for the the assorted circles and squares, corner rounder, etc.
