How do you store your Nesties that are to big for CD cases?

A fellow scs said they use the cases from univenture and bought magnet sheets to store them on. The cases lock shut and you can get them up to a 8.5X11 size. I just bought some magnet sheets that size from oriental trading 12 pcs. for 10.00. Best buy and idea that I could find!

I used to store my Nesties in CD cases, but when the larger ones came on the market, I didn't want 2 storage solutions, so I changed to this. I cut the chipboard into 5" X 7" pieces and used either 2 or 3 of the business card magnets on each one. I'm much happier with this system. The container is by "Really Useful Boxes" which couldn't be more appropriately named.

I use Quickutz Magnetic Binders...one holds all the plain and scalloped of a specific shape...up to 8 sets actually.

I have about 9...on the hunt for more. LOL All the labels are in one, all the odd shapes in one, and then one each for circles, ovals, squares, etc.

Where can you order these from?

I usee a Quickutz product as well. It's not a binder, but kind of an attache folder that is all magnetized. It's a sturdy material ... ok... I looked it up. It's called a Magnetic Storage Book. Here's a link (clicky).

I have a couple of these for my nestabilities and it works great. They're sturdy, compact, and portable.

Nesties Storage
 

I have "lots" of Nestabilities and ended up purchasing zippered three ring
binders and zippered pencil cases. Each shape has a different color and
there is one Nestie to each case. I leave them on the cards they come on and put them in a zippered pencil case. They are all protected this way
and I have never had a problem with it. I have 2 zippered three ring
binders full --and really have to refrain from purchasing any (or many)
more! Love my Nesties and use them on probably 99% of all the
cards I make!

I make my own magnetic strips and put them on chipboard. It is much less expensive than buying QK sheets or using full sheets. Here is my video of them from last summer.

I had purchased these boxes for storing photo CDs in but never got around to using them for that. They came with some little plastic hanging envelope/folders for each CD. I took the cardboard from some DSP and cut into rectangles that fit the folder. I attached a strip of magnet a couple inches thick across the middle and viola perfect storage for my nesties for pennies!

this is exactly the idea I was looking for just couldn't quite get it straight in my head. TFS

I use a Quickutz zip-around binder, half sheet page protectors from the office supply store and magnetic sheets from a home improvement store that I cut down to size. The magnetic sheets were heating vent covers and each one made 3 pages. They were slightly smaller than the sheet protectors so I mounted to a piece of cardstock and labeled the cardstock with the name and item number of each set. I like that I can flip through it to find what I need.

i do the same as carol. just remember to store your album vertically. if not the nesties could bend each other. this is the same for your dreamweaver or any other stencils.

I too am looking for something to store my Nesties in. I try the binder thing. but didn't like it.

I might have to check out something else. I'm starting to add to my collection. Plus I have the cuttlebug embossing folders, Quik Cut embossing folders and I'm looking into getting more of the Nestie embressabilities folders too.


I'll let you know what I come up with.

I "Found" a new storage idea for myself. It works great so far. I found it at Meijer's the other day. It's suppose to hold coupons. The one I got is all Plastic. and it holds a lot of Nesties and Embossing folders. And I found it in the scrapbook section.


I'll have to pick up another one.

I keep mine in baskets in a drawer right under where my big shot is

I installed a pegboard on the wall, and I hang all my Nesties on that. Each shape is hung together on one hook. It is very organized this way, and everything is on hand. I don't have to go digging for anything. I could post a picture if anybody would like to see, but it's very similar to the post above where they're hung on the wall.

I have mine in a drawer right beside my work space. They are all in CD cases with magnet strips to hold them. They work great, except when I misplace the whole case. I just totally cleaned up my space, got a great new organizer and I can see my desk, but can I find the darn ovals--NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Mine are on binder rings by the set and then I have the rings of the sets that work together all on a larger binder ring, hanging on my wall on a decorative hook.

I put all my Nesties in a binder in page protectors. I don't use any magnets, just the pockets. Seems to be alright.

Cork Board!
 

Back when we all showed our messy secrets for a chance to win a Scrapbox I saw the best nestie idea of all. Dawn Lusk had hers up on a cork board. One push pin will hold them no problem, they look nice are easy to see and find. I have a Quick Cutz Magnetic folder to use for travel or classes but keep all my nesties hanging together on the big cork board the rest of the time. LOVE this system and had tried many before it.

That's exactly how mine look, but they're on a pegboard! Works great!

It's an amazing system! I have over 60 sets of Nesties in two 3" 3-ring binders. I like that it expands as new releases come out. Plus they travel really well when I go to crops. By the way, this was not my original idea - I saw it on the blog of one of the Spellbinders Design Team members.

Here is my storage binder. 50 sets all in a 1" binder. I just took chipboard and put the self adhesive magnets on the pages. 6 pages (front and back) holds 50 sets of dies. More on my blog about how I put it together.

These are what I use (for now).. I have three and they are all filled up.. I am going to have to figure something else out.. glad that I found this thread.. lots of great ideas.

Great way to store Spellbinders
 

I found this metal storage case by Init for cds, which includes 160 hanging files, at Best Buy for 29.00. After seeing these my girlfriend is changing to this storage method. You can easily get 160 nestability sets, label sets, or pendants in each file - so this is very compact way to store them.

I then purchased Frost King Magnetic Vent covers at Lowes and Home Depot.
Each package of vent covers contains three 15 inch by 8 inch sheets of magnets. I cut each sheet into 3 stripes of 5 inches by 8 inches and then cut these 1/3 sheets into 4 1/4 by 5 inches and the other piece ends up being 3 3/4 inches by 5. So out of each package ($4.49) you can get full magnetic sheets to hold 18 sets of Nestablilites. The 4 1/4 holds the wider sets of Nestabilities and the 3 3/4 holds the little narrower sets. You can cut the sheets into the width you need, but just make sure they slip easily into the hanging file. These are heavier magnets than I found at Michaels.

I started putting a magnetic sheet in the front and back of each hanging file, but now have changed to just having one magnetic sheet in each file -when the magnets were back to back they would "stick" to each other.

I have marked all my circles with orange tags offset across the top, etc. I think I will change to colored tape rather than these tags. I like the tags being slightly offset so I can see if I am missing one of my specific sets.

You can easily flip through the hanging files or if I know I want a circle set I just pick up all of the orange tagged ones on the right side and go through them. If you pick a stack to go through they go back in much easier if you tap them on the sides and bottom to line them up before you place them back in the file box.

For the taller sets I just cut larger magnets and set them in the back of one of the sides. So far I have not found a set I can not fit in this file. Plus for the spellbinders edges I cut pieces as tall as the edges and 4 inches wide and place them in the hanging files. I have not yet figured out how I am going to write the names on the files. One Side of the hanging holder is white but I turned it around to the grey side because I got the numbers out of order.

Here are three different pictures of this hanging file method for storing Spellbinders. Also, in a second case, I have put together my Cuttlebug Disney sets, etc, that include a cutting die and the matching embossing folder.

It really works for me, and it's right at my desk so it's at hand's reach everytime I'm crafting. It's easy to flip to each "page" and see what exactly I want to use. And what's best is that even the big Nesties fit on them. The box is getting tight, which means I might have to make another one for future Nesties. But for now, this system works really great for me. Hth :)

I love the magnetic binders. I bought mine on QVC they carry alot of scrapbook supplies. sometimes really good deals on spellbinders...

I wanted a cheap solution that didn't involve CD cases or yet another binder or box, since I don't have any desktop space and little drawer space. I already had an old bulletin board that wasn't being used. I bought a package of magnetic vent covers at the home improvement store for $5 and voila! I can tuck the bulletin board beside my Sterilite containers where I have my stamps and supplies. And as you can see, there is still plenty of room for more Nesties (not even half of the board is covered with the magnets). I may have to paint or stamp up the wood frame though. :p

I use these too! LOVE them, tho I'm finding it harder and harder to find the folders (welllll.....:oops: forgot about going to the Quikutz site itself!)

i've found, if my supplies aren't "out in the open" i forget about them, and don't use them. so, i need storage/organizational ideas that leave product easy to see, and are easy for me to keep that way ;)

i put each of my nestie sets on a binder ring to keep them together. then, using curtain rings like these, i hang each binder ring on the rod i put up in my storage space.

makes it easy to see what i have and determine if a shape & size will work for my project. then, when i'm done, i hang them right back up.

extra rings hold recent cards i've received, or other craft ideas/items.

Storing Nestabilities
 

I tried CD cases with magnet sheets but as I got more and more Nesties I lost track of the ones I had and often forgot to use some of them. I purchased two large pieces of foam core board at Hobby Lobby and also purchased rolls of magnetic sheets (12"x24"). I had the foam core board cut so I can fit two rolls of the magnetic sheets on one piece of foam core. I then just attached the nesties in sets. I lean these at the back of my cutting station in full view. So many people comment that they thought it was art work rather than my dies. I love looking at them and I just reach for the one I want without having to sort through CD cases to find just the right one. I love looking at them!

I left my Nesties on the card that they came on with the double sided tape. Then I chopped the cards down to 5.5" and all except the longest of the long rectangles fit right inside a $1 recipe box that I got from Michaels dollar bin.

It's perfect to keep sitting on my die cut counter or take to a crop as none can fall out in transit.

Not perfect, but good enough for now. ;) And an added bonus of being cheap and very little work.

I used to use the QK magnetic binders, which work well and are great if you only have a few sets, but I ended up havng lots of them full and it was a pain to open up all of them to search for certain dies.
Now I use a 3 ring binder with 8 1/2 x 11 page protectors (the cheap office supply kind). I take cheap cardstock sheets and cover each with a 8 1/2 x 11 magnet self-stick sheet, put my nesties on and slide it in the page protector. You can get boxes of 3 magnet sheets at Michaels, I always use a coupon to get them so they are very cheap.
I love having them all in one book so I can just flip through and see everything at once. I keep the impression plates in here as well.
Now I use one of my QK binders for my PTI dies.

Also, I keep all my embossing folders togeter (QK, Cuttlebug, Sizzix, ect) standing upright in a plastic bin. It fits them all perfect with the lid off, than I can just flip through them.

I left my Nesties on the card that they came on I replace the double sided tape with a business card magnetic. I bought a couple of coupon holders (long though) from the dollar spot at target to store the cards in. Each on holds 13 sets of nesties. Works great and is easy to take to crops with me.
